2005 options
2005 options
I was checking Chrysler's dealer connect site for 2005 options. They list the folowing options-One touch windows,Navigation w/radio,perf.brakes and handling(srt6)Fixed rod antenna(conv.)fixed body spoiler(srt6)200mph speedo(srt6) Auto trans only for srt6.Black soft top only for conv. plus a couple new colors!!
How on earth can DCX not offer a manual transmission with the Crossfire SRT-6?!? That simply does not make any sense! All the press is saying the Crossfire is supposed to be the new flagship car for Chrysler, but then we are only offered a crippled version with an automatic transmission. I know its based on the AMG SLK 32 which only has an automatic, but am I the only one completely turned off by this? Surely Chrysler has a manual transmission of its own that could handle the power.
When I first heard that the SRT-6 was coming out with 330 hp I thought I had found my dream car. I've been searching for over a year now to replace my MR2 Turbo and I was convinced the SRT-6 was it. I just love the cool design and the power-to-weight ratio can't be beat for the price. I don't know how many hours at work I've wasted reading up all the online reviews, etc.
But if the SRT-6 only comes with a auto trans then this car will be just another old man's touring car (no offense to any old men out there ). Maybe I'll look at the 350Z, maybe I'll wait for the Solstice.
Hoping for a manual trans,
Pierre

So, here's the question, is the Navigation/radio backwards compatible with the 2004 Crossfire?
As for no manual tranny on the SRT6, I'd reserve comments until I drive it. F1 cars have sequential gearboxes, so do some serious sports cars like the Aston Martin Vanquish (which they call manual but it uses paddle shifts like F1 cars and like F1 cars, I believe the Vanquish as a clutch), they can be as good if not better than manual transmissions, it really depends on how they are configured, programmed and set up.
The real issue isn't automatic or manual in the old sense of the word, but how much system intervention between the gears and the driver. Sequentials can be as effective as manuals, it all depends on the engineers and how they think their customers want to drive it.
