 No boot space
 Too expensive buy an RX-8

Plus the other two presenters aggred.

MARK_UK,

Have you talked with anyone about the manual on your side of the pond? What's the impression of the vehicle from the Europeans?

I think you must take what Mr Clarkson says in context .
He was never going to say an american slyled car was any good , he never has .He said the new vette was rubbish ,he also said the Range Rover was a good car !!!!! anyone that ever owned one will tell you otherwise ,I to my misfortune have owned 3 each one worse than the other .I know you will say why buy another ? .Well i thought the first one was just a bad one ,i complained so much Land Rover ( they own Range Rover ) gave me a new one , that had 2 engines 1 gearbox 6 sets of new brakes in 10 months !!! .they gave me another one Free !!! it was the same , a complete pile of crap .They gave me a full refund .
Mr Clarkson will never say good things about a Chrysler ,if its a Ferrari or a Porsche then you stand half a chance .Most of the time he will just give a bad report on a car he cannot handle. If you watch him on the Top Gear program he cannot drive around the track without pulling the stearing wheel from side to side , this is just for effect , not good driving.
Tiff Needel gave the car a good Road test on 5th Gear , he said it was not a sports car, but a good GT Tourer . Thats what it is.
He drove the car on reel road and very quickly ,he was a Formula one driver after all .
The point is i did not buy my car to impress Mr Clarkson ,I bought it for myself ,I like what it does and the way it does it , and i am sure I will meet plenty of people on the road that watched the program ,I will smile when I go passed them , while they wonder whats happened.
Its a very good car
Regards
JJ

Sorry AZ but don't know anyone else yet with one except for on here.

I was hoping they would drive a UK spec one but no had to drive a German one which it LHD. They do have and a track outside the studios and had a UK spec Xfire in the studio but didn't take it out on the track like they do with most others car they test. It would of been nice to of seen it thrown about but it wasn't to be.

Some of the things he said are true but I feel he was missing the point.

Well said JJ

I also believe the Crossfire will age better then the RX-8 and 350z.

The dog thing he said is going to come back to me when I get back to work.

I agree with JJ..... "The point is i did not buy my car to impress Mr Clarkson ,I bought it for myself ,I like what it does and the way it does it ,"

I had read and heard a lot, both positive and negative, about the Crossfire before I bought it. Then I drove it and made up my own mind. You have to go with what you feel.... not what you hear. Too many people let other people's opinions drive their descisions.

What do you think were the true bits??

The whole thing was the typical journalistic crap!.

I knew Clarkson wouldn't stick his neck out and say it was any good but that was truly awful, he's just following the crowd BAH BAH BAH.

It makes me laugh, My wifes just bought an RX8, wonderful car, very different and practicle. Is it better than the Crossfire ?. No way!.
The Crossfire is much more of a sports car than the RX8. I know that for sure now and they nearly voted it their car of the year.

Complete Pants, I used to respect their opinion, not anymore. I doubt I'll ever watch again. Why cant people just be honest and unbiased!

What price are you paying for the Crossfire in the UK.

I'm an Irish guy living in America, my family just called to give me stick about the Top Gear review.

MARK_UK stop worrying

Are the same people that have been ogling your car now going to swap their view.
CLARKSON wants to say the auto gearbox is crap and looks for nods from his two stooges who prefer a SMART CAR
--and who 1.drives a go faster stripes LHD porsche 2.drives a clapped out Bentley doing 10mpg
It looks like a dog shitting-obviosly thats how CLARKSON interprets a squat stance, HE talks *****.
It's thirsty-who cares, its not as thirsty as a Range Rover or Rolls Royce or an RX8-and what about his AMG55SL-
Why was there not a test track drive--because it probably proved the man wrong.

His view on the worst car in Europe is the Vauxhall Vectra but the roads are full of them,
Rolls Royce is the best car -at 250,000 it better be good but then again I haven't seen one.
Maserati's are crap as well according to him,yet how many guests on HIS show drive them.

At the end of the day if its on HIS show and it doesn't do 0-60 in 5 seconds or cost at least 50,000 then its going to get slated.

With the slating HE gave the car DCUK should pull any perks on offer to HIM,as should BMW,FERRARI,SUBARU and GM
Let HIM have his deals with Ford and Suzuki, let him lick **** all he wants.

We've bought a car we like, our friends like and the public like.

Default But

Sadly DC now have a big issue, UK sales will take a big hit and residuals just fell through the floor, say what you like about Top Gear its all i'm ever gonna hear about from everyone i work with, the xfires names is offically mud with the UK press and you can stick your head in the sand but it does count!

Yes clarkson is biased but thats the worst review i've seen this year!

not in an xfire according to Top hear and fifth gear! I do have to say i think they are wrong but the biggest culprit is DCUK having priced the car too high it set expectations the car couldn't meet.

Had it been RX-8 money i think the reviews would have been different.

Would love to hear from those who work at UK delaers, is it effecting sales yet? and how are they going when is the earliest i could get a car for?

I am afraid that it looks like some of us are affected the same way as Clarkson !! Quote " the residuals just went through the floor " and have the dealers noticed a drop in trade. GROW UP.
The program was aired last night ,and how many of you watch a program then rush out and buy a car . If i took any notice of the comical antics of the Top Gear Team I would not own a car .
I have ( as can be seen in my Gallery ) an X5 BMW TOP GEAR calls it a Drug Dealer Car !! I have a E320 CDI TOP Gear " an oily smelly Diesel !!
A CLK 320 Cabriolet Top Gear " A girls car that no man would drive "

It seems some of us care more about what others think , surely buying a car is a personal thing its expensive and should only be bought if YOU are pleased with it .

I am in the fortunate position to buy this car as a toy , for myself ,it makes no difference to me if everyone in the whole forum sold there cars,
I would not .
The world has not ended , the Planets did not collide , the car just had a bad review ,all be it from a Moron , but he has a TV show .
The RX 7 was so bad that the Importer in the US had to buy them back ,but other people want to buy the RX 8.
Forget it ,when the weather gets good I would be pleased to meet with other owners that still like the car.
Regards
JJ

Default er thanks?

Dont tell me to grow up its merely expressing an opnion, it is just a TV show but it has huge influence on sales and therefore resale values, I have spoken to a Chrysler delaer today who has had several prospective owners call up and one pull out of a deal.

It does not change my opnion of the car I like it and nothing will impact that but image is everything in the sale and resales market I do care what its worth 3 years time.

Sadly this is just another one of a string of poor reviews in the UK, what is strange is how magazines such as "CAR" gave it a glowing write up in the summer only to trash it once on the road! We can only presume that the first article was a paid for puff piece.

Just to make it clear so I don't get told to "grow up" again! I like the car my issue is that i wont be the one who i have to sell it to in a few years time, the UK reviews are not helping that sale at all!

It seems Top Gear has us all angry , very concerned or maybe both. I am both. I will not get the car until April so I could cancel but, I don't see Chrysler refunding me the 1k deposit.

What I think would set all of our minds at ease is knowing " will it hurt residuals" ? A good number of us buy our cars with a final payment. Some guaranteed some not, but no matter how much you like the car if its going to lose 50% in the first year I may cancel and buy one used.

Does anyone know if residuals have been effected by the top gear report? Perhaps there is someone who knows someone in the Car finance bis.

Hi all

I've just seen the road test report and I am devestated at the slating, to say it's ugly, slow & handles like a 'pudding' is so unfair. I've driven so many cars the 16 years I've been in the trade and feel in no way that Crossfire is any of the above, Clarkson and his stooges are complete tossers.

We have had no cancelled orders, none of our current owners or prospective buyers have taken what's been said to heart for the simple reason they've bought into a car they love in every respect and in my opinion that's what it is all about.

Many of you have commented that X-fire is overpriced, does that mean that a TT or a 350Z are as well, having spoken to a friend of mine in a Mazda dealer, he has commented that RX8 has very limited appeal and the intial surge in sales are great - but not expected to last.

My personal feelings are that I would buy this car with no hesitation, the way it drives and the way it makes me feel !

Enjoy your ownership - Don't let Top snear ruin for you.

As my old mum used to say ' sticks & stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me'
