Re: TOPGEAR HATES US
lol thats what i said too! my buddy came up to me right after i got it and said "hey dude you know that your car is one of the biggest flops in automotive history?" i was like go **** yourself, that is why you drive what you do! no taste, since im only 23 i consider the crossfire the delorean of our generation, not wanted when around, wanted when gone, i love my car and wouldnt trade it for anything(other than a bugatti) looks like i have some saving to do! Seriously, using words like "obdurate" in a car review is so over the top as to be ridiculous. And saying that simulated louvres are a sign of "abject moral bankruptcy" is simply rubbish. Morality has nothing to do with the appearance of a car. I mean WTF does this jerk think he is? Jeremy Clarkson? LOL
They are both pompous over-opinionated a$$es, and I would say that whether they liked the Crossfire or not.
I will say that this last author had a couple of things right. The cup holder is one of the worst cup holders I've ever seen, and that would be made worse in a right hand drive car. The lack of a cover or any hooks or any sort of storage options in the trunk is pretty silly too. Sure you can buy the cover as an option, but a grey window blind should not cost a couple hundred dollars. I've also found that the steering wheel is a bit too large. It would be more comfortable with about an inch or two less diameter, but that is probably to give the driver more leverage because of the non-rack-and-pinion steering. Why they did that is beyond me too.

The silver dash I kinda like though and the grooves in the hood are a great feature and do add strength.
I purchased one of the trunk covers which I think was highway robbery, the equivalent item for a Magnum was about $120 and they looked about the same.
You have to remember that this is basically (I hate that word) a US car and as such is open for scathing comments. I like Clarkson because he is a showman and as such whatever he says is for laughs or effect and cannot be taken too seriously. When he takes a car round the track we see smoke, lots of smoke. When the Stig goes around the track there is minimal smoke, Clarkson is after the effect, the Stig is after efficiency and speed. Big difference.

Re: TOPGEAR HATES US
Does anyone remember the follow up in around 2005 when Top Gear reviewed the Roadster in a test against the Auti TT and the 350Z convertible?
Amazingly all three of the presenters actually quite liked the Roadster and I seem to recall that they decided it was their favourite car of the test. (Although I think Clarkson still referred to the coupe as a squatting dog)
Apologies if any of this is incorrect - I'm going from blurry memory from a couple of years back!
Andy.

Re: TOPGEAR HATES US
I watched a repeat of the Top Gear episode on Dave (Sky Channel) not long before I bought my XF. It never deterred me from buying one, in fact, made me more determined to buy one.
If Jezzer thinks its a crap car, then its probably actually going to be a good one.
He's a very funny guy, I'd love to go out for a few beers with him, but I would never take his opinions seriously or act upon his advice.
The halfwit doesn't even know the difference between a Turbo and a Supercharger but he's described as a Motoring Professor. Would you take advice about a car from somebody who doesn't even understand the basic technology under the body of the car? I certainly wouldn't.

Re: TOPGEAR HATES US
I think they are all idiots, must have money in the network...because they are about intertainment, not raw all out driving...I don't believe the XF was ever worth what they were asking in the beginning. The prices are quite right now...best bang for the buck right now...and really, after just a few small mods, can run with the best of them...

Anybody know where part III is?
Re: TOPGEAR HATES US
I read the "trash-the-crossfire" written link above at Telegraph U.K. Then linked to another written article from the same publication--not nearly as critical. Then linked to the photos and saw this:
That ain't Ceder--it's read. Did they make such a thing for the U.S. Market? What color cars did it come in. That's hot? Is it the limited edition red of '04 I've read about?

Remember, there's a photo of a Red Crossfire on the forum that looks just like it's Copper.
