Well I purchased my car, not leasing it, so I've got to use it for 5 years at the minimum to get the most out of it. I've calculated it out. It gets really good gas mileage and is really low insurance, too, so the longer I keep it the more I can save relatively.

 

You guys are crazy about the corners. Remember my wife and I own both! The RX8 is known for its handling! And the engine of the RX8 is not suppose to have alot a kick at low rpms. But when you get up to the 4-5k rpms it kicks ***! I love my crossfire but I love my wifes car more and we've been switching alot more now. RX8 is much more fun to drive too!

Oh and Paul I never said I didnt like my crossfire, I said I like the RX8 better now!

 

Since I just joined the forum and, as such, I am reading many of the threads, I am posting late comments. When I came upon the review by Clarkson and the associated video I could help but to download it and watch. Here is my take on Clarkson's review.

Absolutely Brilliant. I loved it. It was one of the best reviews for the Crossfire that I have read/seen/heard. I found his presentation to be totally outlandish and hilarious. Only a Brit could compare an automobile to a doggy engaging in a number two "poo poo." Oh my, oh dear, oh deary me." After viewing his video I was unequivocally sold on the Crossfire. God how I love the British sense of aesthetics - more power to them.

 

Clarkson does not know his **** from his elbow!!! He is a overpaid man with no knowledge and have to admit, no one has a good thing to say about him. HE IS SO Wrong... I have been a BMW driver for years.. this is my first venture into something new and...

1. The build quality is 100%
2. The drive is superb.
3. Its really a German engineered car
4. It looks amazing... ask them outside looking in!

So clarkson.. do me a favor....

Sorry guys, but this is a guy who really needs to grow up.

PS: A porsche also has a similar back end.. Oh! shall I say it looks like a dogs ***!

 

lol we have to get used to critism... its gonna happen i get it every day from a friend that owns two rx7's that do not run at all... not his project is a geo storm...

he tells me how slow my xfire is... and that he's seen them run 16 1/4 miles.... what you do is just let it blow through your head... cuz you know he's wrong... and no matter how much you tell him ... they wont listen at all... they have their mind set no matter how stupid it is.... We know what our car can do... its a beautiful machine that has both style and grace... it can tear up a lot of cars on the road... w/ ecu + filter pushing 5.7 - 5.8 0 - 60mph... you know that will tear up a lot of cars... and you know the best thing about it... its a merc that wont die like many of theirs... so just let them vent and sound all snooty... next time you see them in their BMW 325i ... just let them know you have more style and taste....

 

Clarkson is known for hating any American Car. Oh, I forgot, now HE is getting a Ford GT40, he likes one Amercian Car.

Just remember, he needs to be controversial to get the Brits to watch his show. I used to rate his opinions in the old days, but now I take then with a pinch of salt. I guess if I was riding around in supercar after supercar, the XF would seem to have limited performance. The other old guy has a Bentley so no idea about cars there, and the little guy only likes Porsches. They didn't rate the PT Cruiser either, but it is such a practical MPV with wicked looks.

I LOVE my XF and wouldn't change it if I won the lottery tonight. Would order a Roadster for when the sun is out.

Each to his own. If you like your XF, don't listen to anyone who doesn't rate it.

 

I agree english_bob, but again I found Clarkson's performance just that a performance and quite funny to boot.

I am really going to enjoy driving my Crossfire in the ROK - the land of Hyundai, Daewoon and Kia. In fact, the Hyundai Santa Fe (SUV) gets my vote for being a truly ugly vehicle.

 

For what's it worth keijoh (re: your signature), the Crossfire auto trans is "Auto-Stick" in Chrysler parlance (though it no way resemebles any other Chrysler), "Touch Shift" in Mercedes parlance. We could only WISH it was a "Tiptronic".

 

David - thank you for the information about the transmission. My invoice actually states tiptronic but I realize that Auto Stick is the proper phrase. I will edit my signature immediately.

If anyone saw the sunday night top gear you would have to agree that his purchase of a Ford GT40 is a joke, a car that does 4MPG which means he'll get 74 miles from a full tank and its 75 miles from his home to the studio! They also showed how if anyone parks next to you, you can't in it due to the unusual dorr / roof combo!

And he was rude about the xfire!

lordpercy - I agree that Clarkson is an **** but is was so humous that I as an non-asian living in Korea could laugh at his silly prank. What a funny and silly man. But again I thought it was the most entertaining of all the Crossfire Reviews. He really sold me on the Crossfire!

 

none of its true.. Clarkson, your talking out of your a**..... this guy is just is a waste of time, so many people stop me to tell me how gorgeous the car is etc, Clarkson, you carry on driving that Gay car, "presenters on a TV shoe said he drives a Gay car ,on top gear" LOL and he really got upset, nothing wrong with Gay peoplt that is / I think.. anyway... 100% this car is.

 

I go to our annual auto expo every year and I usually sit in every convertible and sports car they let me and this January I was able to check out the CF, RX8 and Z350. Before, I was undecided wich one to pick but after just sitting in all 3 I found the Z didn't appeal to me as much as the CF and the rear seat in the RX8 was a complete JOKE! When I was sitting in the drivers seat with enough legroom to actually drive, I was hitting the rear bench with the back of my seat. And I'm only 5"9, with a little longer than average leggs but nevertheless.
Plus the divider that runs though the rear bench makes seating even more cramped.
Also the prices for the RX8 and CF aren't THAT much different. The RX8 fully loaded runs in the neighbourhood of $32000.
I bought my CF for $29,200. A no-brainer for me!! Plus being German I felt a little patriotic about it... :mrgreen:
So really, who CARES what anybody thinks! As long as I like it nothing else matters....(some people call me stubborn, wonder why?) ops:

I doubt Clarkson will like the SRT. Regardless of how good the car actually is, it will get slated because the show needs to be contentious so that people will continue to watch Top Gear, and he has admitted that he only likes one American car (GT40). How he can justify the price and economy and range (he can't get to work on a tank of fuel), shows that he is simply overpaid, and my TV licence fee is being wasted.

I saw Tiff Needel review the XF on a repeat of 5th Gear the other night. He gave it (in my opinion) a very fair review. He compared it accurately to the TT and the 350Z. And more importantly, he reviewed it on a road (where we normally drive) and not on a track.

Its a shame, cos I used to rate Clarkson until about 4 years ago. I now buy cars that he give bad reviews to (apart from the Lexus roadster thinggy). This means I get a decent car, at a decent price, and there are not too many on the road.

 

I watched theat 5th gear review as well and agree it was a fair review. As Tiff summed it up at the end it won't out-class some of its competition and there won't be tons of them on the road, but to some that is the appeal and that is exactly it for me. I loved my BMW Z3 M Coupe when I had that a few years ago but some people hated its looks and it was rare to see another one on the road. That is the appeal to me, be different and stand out. I love it!

Well as a Brit living in the US, I have noticed this rubbishing a really well designed American car... Chrysler have achieved what Mercedes couldnt do and thats create real appeal.. and a really lovely car to own and drive..no wonder the purist reporters like Clarkson dont like the car, they have nothing to do with its success..I would think that it might be time for them to stand down and let reporters that understand true design excellence a chance...
just today I pulled into my bank and all the tellers came out to look at the car... I should add I have a classic american muscle car a 375hp camaro which doesnt attract half this attention... and is actually slower !!!

 

i saw it, made me want to cry, but to be fair everything that jeremy test and likes are lambo's and other's that cost most than someones house, i think he forgot how much it costs, and to be honest i much rather have the squirts than own a rx8 lol
