Default Headlamp switch & sound system question

I just picked-up my new silver/blue 5speed. So far, I am really impressed with the vehicle.

A small item has me curious. The head lamp switch pulls-out once to turn on the fog lights. It also pulls-out to a second detent. I cannot determine if there is a function associated with this second position. Does anyone know?

There is a lot to learn about the features & functions of this vehicle compared to most US & Japanese based cars I'm familiar with. I guess typical German engineering.

I am also somewhat surprised that there is no auto turn-off for the headlamps and the intermittent wiper function is limited to only one position, not variable.

My other question has to do with the sound system, not the display brightness, or lack of. I do not notice much sound coming from the rear speakers located behind the seats. Also, there does not appear to be any adjustment for front to rear sound, only balance, left to right. Has anyone else noticed this or have a solution or explanation?

Your feedback would be appreciated.

Default lights and stereo

About the lights, read the manual carefully. One thing you can do is turn on just the right side marker lights, or just the left. The idea is to make the car visible when parked at the curb.

The speakers behind the seats are subwoofers, not full range speakers. As such, sub woofers are omni directional and without the need for fade front to back/side to side. If you COULD do that, all you would hear would be extreme low range, and in some cases not hear it so much as feel it.

that second detent on the headlight switch is for rear fog lights used in Europe. The intermittant wipers are an unfortunate feature not being adjustable

...but, you'll notice that, when in the intermittent position, the wiper speed does change when you're stopped vs. when you're moving.

The wiper delay is controlled by the body control module.I believe they are speed sensitive.
