Motor Trend Review of Crossfire - NEW RADIO DISPLAY
I got my December issue of Motor Trend in the mail a few weeks ago, and it has a semi-review of the Crossfire in it (they basically compare it to a SLK and see how its different). Well, I was just looking at the pictures again and guess what I noticed! A new radio display with black lettering! I wonder how long it will take for that TSB to come out, and for us to get new dislpays. If not, my CD player will magically break, and I will demand one with the new screen. Interestingly enough, my dealership just got a new Crossfire in last week, and it had the same old display. I wonder if we're gonig to have to write Motor Trend and let them know that DaimlerChrysler gave them a car with "features" not available to a regular consumers, since DainmlerChrysler thinks that a radio with a readable display is a "feature" of the stereo and not a problem.
May I ask a silly question. Did any of you test drive your cars? Did you not notice the radio display before you bought the car? Oh and by the way the black lettered radio display is available to customers because my car has one. Why can't you be patient as I am sure that DaimlerChrysler will do the right thing and replace your radio, just as they have done the right thing buy replacing the transmissions that were having shifting problems. Chill out!

No, I actually bought the car without test driving it. I fell in love with the car once I saw the production version, and knew I had to have it. Personally, the radio display doesn't bother me that much because I can see it MOST of the time. Plus, I'm going to be getting a new stereo sometime in the next few months. The only reason I even care, is because DaimlerChrysler should have never let this stereo display on to the market in the first place, and I want to make sure they do the right thing.
Like texex91.... I am going to keep complaining to Chrysler about the display. If we don't they will not give it their full attention. When I test drove my car I didn't even turn the radio on. I was more interested in driving it and listening to the engine sound. I already knew that the Infinity radio would be great. As awesome as the rest of the car is I never thought the radio needed to be test driven!

No I did NOT test drive my car before I bought it (one of the first out at the end of July). And quite frankly when I'm test driving a car the last thing I do is look at the radio display. Like might, I just wanted the car and only noticed the radio AFTER purchase. Now with that said, we are 'chilled out', the problem is that DCX just needs to fix it--which according to crossfiretech they are coming out with in Nov (we'll see.) Hey I LOVE THE CAR, just wish I could see the radio, but it's more of an annoyance than anything else. It's SO stupid for a car co to overlook something like this--THAT is what pisses me off...

I am just tired of hearing people ***** about something as trivial as the radio display and having not even fully evaluated the car. You bought the car with out ever checking it out thouroughly. So technically DCX could tell you to get lost, I doubt they will, but in all fairness YOU bought the car with the radio display the way it was. It sounds like you just had to have one right away, and there is nothing wrong with that but things like this happen when cars are rushed to market. I agree that DCX should have caught it, but the reality is that they did not, and that you bought an early unit.

dakota are you an attorney?? 'Fully' evaluate a car--please, I have never purchased a car that had a radio that one could not read, so yes my bad. From now on I will check radio display first--NOT! The bottom line is that YOU CANNOT READ the display--don't know of ANY other car that has this problem, so never thought about checking the display. Again, I HOPE DCX will fix, but quite honestly I'm not counting on it.
Love the Xfire...

Hello,
The first thing that I would like to say is let's try to keep our disagreements civil. If it is important to one ,it is important to all or don't comment.
The second thing that I would like to say is that I picked my car up this past Thursday and I have the black letter display. They are listening.

I don't think anyone is unhappy with the car. But, if you don't let them (DC) know what you aren't pleased with they will never make them right. They are interested in putting out a quality product. Sometimes things get overlooked and it takes dedicated customers to point them out. So, don't feel like a traitor for pointing out things that could be done better.
Enjoy!!!
Enjoy!!!
Dakota, you have taken this way out of context. Crossfiretech hit the nail right on the head! DC wants to know what we think. I bet if you had a Ford Explorer you would still be riding around on Firestone Wilderness tires.... Well, I changed mine.... I've got Good-Year Wranglers now...
Believe it or not.... Improvements are GOOD things!!!
My guess is you're a democrat!!! Or the Canadian equivalent....

You all missed my point. All I was trying to say was take some responsibility for your purchase thats all. Oh and by the way I know first hand how DCX likes feed back and what they do to fix customers complaints, I am a product engineer for the company, and actually have gone to dealerships to help the tech's trouble shout problems. I will now get off the radio display issue.
