I think people seriously underestimate how fast these cars can actually go. I've personally been to 135 mph on I-55, but I've seen a video on youtube of someone who got theirs to 160 I think.

They are pretty stable at those speeds surprisingly too.

BOTH cars have been over 150, taken them to the limit!
But, once in each car is enough & I SURE AS HECK wouldn't be doing this down an urban highway!
Since I've had the tune on the SRT and the 157mph limiter is history I've been tempted to try to see just how fast this baby will go but I am hesistant because, at the moment I try, some deer will decide that NOW is the time to try to cross the highway.
Or a State Trooper will be heading in the opposite direction.
Either way, it's risky!

100 mph on the 401 last year. Now there are air cops new Charger Stealth cars and the list goes on. Not that I endorse high speed driving on our nations highways but it sure is fun to give it S*** everyonce and a while

One trip the the 160 limiter was enough for me. The thought of a tire blowing out at that speed is enough to give a man a heart attack, The srt got there very quickly, my previous top speed was 140 in my 94 prelude si. Like everyone stated the car was pretty solid at that speed but i did have some lift on the front end.

160 would be enough for me to soil my britches but man, would it ever be fun. I too would be concerned about a tire and/or wheel issue at that speed.

am i the only one that realizes what this race was really about? who is crossfires biggest rival? alfa romeo thats who, didnt topgear or someone do a show on this this race was about usa vs europe, it came out to be a top speed race instead of a regular drag race, there must of been alot of controversy going on over there for this race to of happened, look at what ?they" are saying on their forum, i think that race must of represented something alot bigger then what meets the eye, check out what others think on their forums alot of people are talking about this race, oh and all the crossfire reviews got revised to the "all new 150mph crossfire" our crossfire will never be the same after this article

I haven't really tried in the XF - think I've nudged 100 but it is such a relaxing drive it is easy to let the speed creep up .... mind you fastest I've been was about 138 in my Lightning that was scary - not because of the speed but how damn quick it got there

Follow this link for a graphic reason why not to drive at excessive speeds on public roads.

That dumbass would have been just as dead had he been driving half that speed. The reason it happened was because he ran the light.

tighed1...LMAO>>>did the camera jump or did you jump???? Kind of busy at that speed huh??? That's as far as I've been, my buddy riding with me, was pretty quiet after we did the run, so I ask what he thought? He said " It is true what they say about those telephone poles, they do seem like one at that speed, and I have never been faster than 120 in my life." And I said, "you have now"...that was my 9/10th of a mile run...0-160...

Nope, didn't jump. Ran out of road and had to put the cell phone away!

What makes you think it was me????? I would NEVER do that!

Wow, how sad. No matter how foolish, it is sad to see something end that way.

173 mph and hoping for over 185mph this season...
yes, before you doubt it, the governor has been reset and I have the hp. read my specs in the signature.
Anything over 160 and you not only get tunnel vision, I guarantee you'll ask for more and get addicted to "Top End".

Mine always tops out at about 149-153. Every time. Now this is not because I'm out of pedal, just out of HP. Is it true these cars are wired shut at 150? I'm told that manufacturers will govern the top end of a car based upon OEM tire rating. Any truth to this?

Quite honestly, that is the only concern I have about wrapping these little cars up so fast - tire failure. Somebody above mentioned the Crossfire seems to 'float' a little at high speeds; that ain't 'floating' you feel, baby, that's the tires expanding.

If you do- plan on going fast, make sure your tires can take it.

I'm pretty certain that if he had wanted to stop for the light he couldn't have. It was never an option because of the speed. At an 100km/hr, you have some reflexes. At 200km/hr, as we saw, no such thing as collision avoidance...
