Warranty Help!!!
Warranty Help!!!
Ok guys here is my problem. As some know my wife bought my beloved Crossfire for me while i was deployed in Iraq. I called chrysler to see about transferring the warranty to me. They told me I have to find the previous owner and get her to sign off on the transfer at the dealership she bought the car at in 2004. Anyone have any other ways or know of any other ways of doing this. Please help.
Re: Warranty Help!!!!!
Be assured that the factory warranty will follow the VIN. That is, the warranty is honored for the car's VIN, not necessarily its day-to-day owner. It may take a few months for you to show up as the new owner of the VIN in dealer service systems because your State's Title Office is probably still fumbling around. But he car is good to go.
Regards. Thanks for your service to your country.

- 3/36 transfers automatically. But a call to Chrysler notifying change of owner will get you all the mailings.
- The drivetrain warranty (7/70 or whatever) requires a payment of $50 to $150 and can only be done within 30 of purchase.
- Extended warranty policies vary.
Good luck!

Hello, WaBeach--
Many thanks for your service to our great country. American service men and women TOTALLY ROCK !!!!
I bought my one-owner '05 XF last month and transferred the warranty for $150.00. It was a very simple process (provide name, address, VIN # within 30 days and you're done). The warranty is then on record.
Best of luck with your new ride. You have certainly earned it!!

Re: Warranty Help!!!
If it is the 7/70 warranty (if the car has one) the dealer can handle the transfer for a fee if you are in the time period allowed.
If it is the extended warranty you may have to contact the person that owns the warranty. I don't know why that person wouldn't have cancelled the extended warranty and gotten a refund when the sold the car.
Check with the service advisor at your Chrysler dealership and they should be able to tell you what warranty is left on the car and what could be transferred to your name.
