Engine light on after reset.
Engine light on after reset.
Here's one for the experts.
My engine light is on but everything seems fine.
I disconnected the battery and it goes out for one start and run. As soon as I restart the engine a second time it comes on.
The only symptom is low torque and rough running at idle to about 2,000 RPM. After that it is strong and peppy.
Before I take it in to the shop, any ideas?

My engine cover was off for 1,500 miles before this showed. Never heard that one. But I will investigate.
Problem is my CAI won't let me replace it.
So, now what?

Yes get a code reader or go to Autozone have have it scanned for free. There is something wrong that needs to be fixed. I don't really believe in using the battery diconnect as that is like trying to ignore a problem. If the light comes on you want to know why and take care of it. If you get the code we can hlep you you fix it.

Don't need a code reader, my friend at the shop has one. And while he will charge me to do it, he has the time and tools to fix it.
I don't.
That said, I would still like a clue about what it might be. Once I really, actually retire and have the time, I will have to do it myself anyway.

Re: Engine light on after reset.
Probably a small vacuum leak. Check all the hoses and sensors on the front of the manifold and listen for any hissing coming from the edges of the manifold.
My engine has a nasty leak that has the engine idle at 1500 rpm. I sort of broke one of the vacuum connectors off of a sensor, so I know where my problem lies.
