They made it through those years producing some of the worst garbage ever to clog American roads. That's when they started to sink.

I agree. Instead of the tons of tax dollars they were loaned, they could have gotten many times more with no questions asked and no accountability - like Wall Street got. Outrageous.

That's certainly true. Look at the unprecedented power grabs after the 9/11 attacks - serious infringements on civil liberties, (which remain to this day), and a needless but highly profitable (for a few) war and occupation.

Obama can't wait to kill capitalism because he's a sociofacsimonarchistnazitarian! If only Bush hadn't left the economy in shambles thereby giving the fiend the opportunity!

No, they were donated by Managment and the Unions. You forget, that time right after 9/11 when, briefly, we were Americans again.

What kept Ford out of the mix was their gutsy move to give the Obama admistration a look at their middle finger.

Old Henry did the same thing during the depressiona and initially lost out later on war contracts. Same politics back then caused the crisis we now know as the "Great Depression." Government policies caused that debacle just as they caused this one. Chysler would be no worse off if they had told the White House "nevermind." It just would have happend sooner.

If the government wouldn't guarentee enough money to solve the problem, they shouldn't have given any. Any business man knows, if you can't borrow enough to insure success, you won't be able to pay back the loan. If the bank won't give you what you need, don't borrow. If you do, the bank will run your business.

Kinda like what we just saw happen. Done to them by a community organizer that everybody underestimates.

Sad for the dealerships. Many were proud family dealers that had sold and serviced quality products for generations.

The problem is the Unions, remove them from the picture, and may be possible for an American car company to make a profit one day. If GM and Chrysle had gone in bankruptcy as any other company would have then it would have been possible to remove the Unions from the picture, but.....

The Obama Administration stepped in, and gave a portion of the company to the unions, so now they are not further away from the process, they sit on the board!

This is socialism at it's best (er worst!)
