Default Replacing Remote Key Fob...

I lost my back-up spare remote key fob and want to replace it. Don't wanna just rely on one and only. I bought a blank uncut one on e-bay for $30.00..Anyone out there ever have one of these cut other than going to a dealership? If so, what kinda price can I expect to pay? I've heard stories of paying anything from $150-200 for a complete key from them...Any advice would be welcomed..Thanks

I recently bought an '05 Crossfire that only came with one spare. I bit the bullet and got one from the dealership. It cost me 173.00.

You can program it to open your doors / trunk, that's it.

If you want it to start your car, you have to pay the dealership.

If you want more information on why & how, I recommend searching.

Thanks everyone, not really looking for a spare key to automatically start the car, just wanna be able to lock and unlock the doors and trunk by push button. Once inside I enjoy the feel of inserting the key and feeling it come to life...I'll let you all know how it works out once I cut the new key..Thanks

You better do a search here. It won't work to start the car, and I don't think you will be able to program it to open the doors. It you somehow get the actual key cut you should be able to open the doors with the key, but none of the other functions will work because the RFI chip won't match the cars VIN. There's all kinds of infomation about it on the Forum.

Corfire is partially correct.

You will be able to get it to unlock/lock the doors, and you can get a unused key cut to insert into the doors.

But a used key or one that you have not ordered from the Chrysler dealership WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO START THE CAR.

We aren't even talking about remote starters here either.

Replacement of the batteries is SUPER EASY, I took my key fob apart in about two seconds with a quarter.. open the key turn a quarer in the open side and bingo ther are the batteries, couldn't be any easier...the batteries you need are.. CR2025. You will need two of them and they are 3 Volts.
