Questionable deal?
Questionable deal?
Well, it has been a while since I have started a thread here. I was looking into the purchase of a second Crossfire. I have an '06 with 20250 miles. I found an '07 LTD with 104 miles on it and have been thinking about the purchase. I was oddly offered $17000 (which would pay it off) for my trade and they said they would sell me the '07 for 20500 plus split the doc fee for a total of 20600. The color of the car is Oyster gold and has Nav.
I would like some feedback on the deal and the rarity of the color. I don't know much about the '07 model year. I have noticed there were some slight changes in the interior. The car also has slate leather, my Aero Blue '06 is two-tone without Nav.
BTW, the miles on the clock of the '07 is accurate.

Re: Questionable deal?
Well since your from OKC I am gonna take a guess you are finding this at bob moore dodge??? If I am correct I watched them buy this car at auction in St Louis. It was labeled as either a dealer inventory that went under or an auto show unit, cant remember. I have been wondering if this car would show up on here. I want to say they paid right around 16,500-17,000 for it. I am not 100% sure its the same car, but since I live in Tulsa and own a CF I was curious what it would do when I saw it, and saw that bob moore bought it, so should be same car.

Re: Questionable deal?
Back here in SC, there was a dealer in nearby Hickory, NC that had 5 or 6 2008 Oyster Gold cars on his lot (back when I was looking for a XFire). Tried selling several of these via eBay. Don't see them listed anymore. The last time I looked for a pre-owned Oyster Gold XFire, my search turned up only 7-8 cars (2006 - 2007) across the entire continental US. So I think the cars are somewhat rare. The only problem I've found is that quite a few were sent over here with the 2-tone Slate Gray/Canyon Red interior. That interior just doesn't look particularly good with the Oyster Gold exterior (IMHO). Since the car you're looking at has the solid Slate Gray, it should look fairly sharp. Hope you close the deal.

You guys have been very helpful. The car does have a few very minor faults. The driver side speaker grill is cracked and there is a scratch in the paint on the rear bumper. Not very noticeable. The biggest thing to me is the front plate mount is on the car and 3/4 of an inch off center. I wish they had not put it on the car. They did tell me the car is under warranty still. Not sure if it has the Lifetime Powertrain.
I think I may talk to them again on Monday as long as the car has not been purchased out from under me. I know you guys wouldn't do that to a fellow member and Crosssfire lover.
Still a bit surprised with the offer for my '06. Granted they do have a Aero Blue '07 LTD man. w/ Nav Slate leather and 25000 plus miles.

Re: Questionable deal?
I have an '07 Oyster Gold with a 6 speed and Nav and I really like it. It has the solid slate interior, and I think it goes really well with the car. At first I was not crazy about the color since I bought the car by only looking at pictures, but in person it looks really good (especially when it is clean). In some lighting it actually looks silver. Everyone that I have shown the car to mentions the color and how much they like it. It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but it is fun thinking that you own a somewhat rare car in a very rare color.
Re: Questionable deal?
I'd say what you got is a reasonable deal. Not a giveaway but a reasonable deal. I have an 08 oyster gold coupe. I've got to say that it's not the color I would have chosen if I had not seen it. But in person, it looks so much better. It's a very bright gold and really shines bright in the sun. A gorgeous car and a gorgeous color. Good luck.
Re: Questionable deal?
I dont know how rare the Oyster Gold X-fires are, I have one and a neighbor down the street does also. Mine is a 07 and the neighbors is an 06. Other then that mine has the TVT265 tune and his doesn,t. Mine has 5k on it now. Oh and both have black leather interiors.

Re: Questionable deal?
I still have some reservations with this deal. Not that I don't think my car is worth the amount offered. But, what I think my car is worth is not reality. lol I plan on running by the lot today and getting some more info.
series4phaeton, I figured that was a loose estimate. I have read article. Good info.

Re: Questionable deal?
Well, I have made up my mind as to what I'm going to do on this car deal.
With the past values of this car going down so quickly I don't think it would be a good idea to buy a second one. Besides 17000 for an '06? Something is not right here.
I think my next car will not be a Crossfire. I'll hold on to the one I have for now. Besides, aside from the year, color, and the Nav. It's the same car.
I have a feeling they will actually only give me 12000 for the car then throw the remainder into the new loan. That is more logical. Glad I walked.
Sorry, I know you guys are loyal to these cars, but 25000 is too much for a 2 year old used car with a depreciation that is dropping so fast.
