Idiotic Dealership
Idiotic Dealership
I can't recall if I posted it before, but a couple of months ago I had my SRT in to have the driver's seat heater replaced. Ever since I got the car back, that seat has been very audibly squeaking and whenever pressure is put on the bolster right near where the end of the seat belt is attached, there is a VERY annoying pop. It sounds like there are two conflicting plastic pieces that are hitting one another when you sit down, go over a bump, or even go around a curve where your weight shifts to that side of the seat (the side toward the outside of the car). So, I had it at the dealership today to have the problem that they caused corrected. I get it back this afternoon and on my way home discover it's still doing it. I get home, tell my mom, and we both go back down there (perhaps they'll take her more seriously). Anyway, I SHOW and explain the issue to them. "Oh, well that's the way the car is designed," they say. I snidely remarked, "I have a hard time understanding why Chrysler would 'design' their car's seat to intentionally have pops and squeaks." And it's distinctly interesting how those issues didn't surface until after your dealership fiddled with the seat (I didn't say that part ). It irritates me beyond belief that they will/cannot fix a problem that they caused. Sorry for the rant. I guess it's time for papa bear to have a word with them.
Re: Idiotic Dealership
That's the sort of lame-a$$ excuse that some places will palm off on you. Glad to hear that you didn't buy it. But you should have said the part that you held back. Now of course you should have said it quietly and patiently, and with a smile on your face, but you should have said it. You're not lying. You're not trying to get something for nothing. You're not being mean. You're just telling it like it is. There's never anything wrong with that though sometimes timing is everything.
I sure hope they didn't charge you. If they did, go get your money back. Especially if they told you they did the work. Because you can see it didn't help.
Find another dealer too. Write to Chrysler Customer Care. Tell your friends.

I'll continue. . . He went on to tell me that since I ride with the back (butt) setting of the seat all the way to the ground that it's bottoming out and hitting something. It's funny that I rode the whole way home with the back setting ALL the way up even to where my head was touching the ceiling. News flash! It had sounds identical to those made when the setting is all the way down. The seat wasn't put back properly, and I just need for them to regard it as such, rather than a "design element" of the car.

Smokey, Doc might just have a point here.
While it would **** me off to no end, you have to pick your battles. Personally, I try to cram my head down there somehow, get a wrench, tighten down every nut or bolt you see & then if it STILL sounds like it's ready to eject at any moment take the whole family down there & raise heck!
