ignition fix 525 bucks???
ignition fix 525 bucks???
Well I bought my crossfire late last september, and it already had a sticky turn of the ignition key. I had the dealer fix it before I bought it and told me that whoever did the work would stand behind their work. Looks like I'm getting ready to actually fix the problem. I have had a couple of times when I thought the key wouldn't turn. The local chrysler dealership can fix it, so my same keys will work. Parts and labor $525+tax. Seems kinda expensive but I would rather get some kind of warranty vs. some company that has already decided to not fix the problem correctly. Is this a decent price? Thanks in advance, chris

As mentioned in another post, the MB parts were only a fraction of the price as from Chrysler. Search the DIY thread about this subject. Check here: https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...7&postcount=20

Re: ignition fix 525 bucks???
Well I stopped by the local MB dealership, and they won't replace it. Nor will they let me order the part through them, since it is for a chrysler VIN number. I guess I'll just have chrysler order the part, and let them change it out. The MB service advisor, said it would be a three to four hour job. If that is the case, I would imagine they get atleast 60-70 bucks an hour for labor. Oh well I guess that's what I get for having expensive toys. I just spent 400 on tires for the zx14. Now this is going to cut into my TVT 265 money. chris
Re: ignition fix 525 bucks???
I paid right at 900.00 a month ago at the Chrysler dealer. Found out later that the ignition switch housing that cost 379.00 from Chrysler, the MB dealer sells for 179.00. If you can get the ignition switch and the ignition switch housing for 525.00, that's better than my deal.

Re: ignition fix 525 bucks???
I'm might be asking a stupid question, but is the wheel suppossed to be locked, before you can turn the key? It doesn't really matter with mine right now, but the dealer (used car) never said anything about it? and the price quoted to me over the phone was $525 parts and labor. They said it could take up to 5 business days to get it. I'll probably just have what's left of chrysler order the part tommorrow. I almost have to think of messing with a tow truck, when it finally locks up. thanks, chris
Re: ignition fix 525 bucks???
they won't do it! The service guy told me that plain out. If chrysler does it, they give a warranty of 12 months, or 12000 miles. I thought I was going to be stuck at work today, the cylinder would not turn. I had them order the part today, should be here in 4 days. Atleast I won't have to worry about it for a year. I'm definately going to ask about towing, and or rental car, since it a pretty significant part of the vehicle. chris
