The install appears very well done. The wood grain and color are very good in the picture.

With that said, it's really a matter of taste. So I know this would not work for me.

One of the things I like about the Crossfire is that the instrument panel has more of the look of a traditional sports car, much more so than say the Pontiac Solstice. I like what you've done, Mdaniels, the wood adds warmth and a touch of class to the interior giving it almost the look of a traditional British sports car. So, I suppose those who like old MG's will appreciate what you've done, and those who go for a more high tech look will not.

I like the look, it does remind me of the older sports cars.

If the silver gear is an issue, couldn't one swap it out for black switches, controls and surrounds from an R170 Mercedes console before installing the wood kit?

Silver would go well with a titanium burl wood kit, though. Hmmm

Anyway your kit and installation look nice from the pics.

I think that's true, you guys, those who have said if you like the traditional sports cars, then you'll probably like the wood, if you like the high tech sports cars then you probably won't. I happen to like the old Jags and MG's, one of my favorites was the MG GT6, the fastback, and that had this yellow maple that aged well.

Anyway, the Cross has that old sports car dash to it, that old Porsche instrument cluster, and to me the way it sits, the Cross' interior looks uninspiring. Not in a bad way, but a not quite finished look of old and new. I mean, I really didn't care for the silver paint on the stack, to me it was just blah, reminiscemnt of aluminum, but not. and the plastic panel looked like leather but weren't. in fact, the first time my son saw it, and he tends to be a bit of an Asperger's personality, said," man, they sure liked plastic in here, and not a good grade of it either". Well, it's not that bad, but it's not that wonderful either for a 40K sprts car. I really like this car, best and most fun car I've had in 30 years, but it's just a car, and if you like it however you add to it, or if you're an absolute purist at heart-so be it. if I didn't tyhink it went well with my car, trust me, I would have ripped it out in a heartbeat as a bad decision. But I do think it worked, and I'm happy with it.

if anybody wants to know where i got it, here is the email to Ryan hand, he's a rep for Sherwood kits and they are real wood such as Rosewood and walnut and whatever. mojoparts@gmail.com. Ryan is good people and is very helpful and will do a good job for what you want in accessories. Mark

I bet you could turn out a shift ****, on a lathe, drill a hole in the bottom, and find a metal insert, with the correct thread, to attach it. But we only turn metal with our lathe at work.

Once you have a dash like this, anything but the real thing just doesn't cut it.

(Not my car but shows what a nice wood dash looks like)
