Hopefully we'll see the company emerge stronger and more efficient as a result.

"Chrysler will still build cars and honor their warranties while in bankruptcy" Thats what I'm reading and that's good news.
As for the number of dealerships........ my wife and I went to a Target near our house, maybe 20 minutes away. There are at least 20 dealerships we passed and on those dealer's lot were hundreds of unsold cars. This is 20 minutes away from another area that also has a ton of dealerships with a ton of cars and they are 20 minutes away from the next batch. There are too many dealerships. I remember the day when you had to order the car you wanted. Dealers kept fewer cars in stock. heck that was half the fun, placing the order and then waiting for your car to come in. Drive by the holding lots off 95 in Baltimore up by the docks, that is the reality of the situation, thousands of unsold cars waiting for a home.

What an interesting turn of events,
I would hate to try and figure out the financials on this one.
Does Cerberus get to write off debt, or did they sell out to Fiat, and the Union, And they get too?
What about the the banks that took bailout money and loaned to Chrysler/Fiat/Union/hedge fund?
Holy Shnykees

Chrysler CEO Bob Nardelli will leave the company after Chrysler emerges from bankruptcy and completes the alliance with Fiat. A successor for Nardelli was not named by either Chrysler or Fiat. - Expect to read about another golden/platinum parachute.
I waited three months for the delivery of my roadster. It was exciting. I don't have the need for immediate gratification anymore.

Lets see, Nardelli got over 200 million severance from Home depot,
I am sure he will impress again

If John McCain says it's so, it's so.
REPORT: Senator John McCain doesn't believe Chrysler will make it — Autoblog
Chrysler is finished.

Mccain is a little late in catching on. Cfhrysler died withthe posting of Nardellie, who couldn't sell lumber and power tools during the largest building boom in our history, to chair the board of Chrysler.
Chrysler, as we knew it ie; MOPAR, has been dead for several years. Fiat has no plans to revive it.
The brand will, however, continue as Fiat will milk it in hopes Americans will buy their crap with a different sticker on the hood. American buyers have fallen for such lame marketing tricks for years.
Can You say Pontiac/Chevy/Oldsmobile?

Yikes,
You guys are too pessimistic! This partnership with Fiat will work out for the best. Jeep will continue with the iconic Wrangler and add a deisel to the lineup. Ram truck will become a stand alone brand still using Cummins engines (Fiat has partnered with Cummins engines for years). Dodge and Chrysler will have Fiat's dual-clutch trannys and all of Fiat's expertise in small cars and small engines that get great gas mileage. Chrysler will have a new wing logo (more art deco looking!) upgraded interiors and cars people will "want to have their picture taken in". The Viper (based on Alfa or Maserati) will get the new Pentastar (Phoenix) dual turbo world class engine.
