Default fog lights will not shut off

I just bought a crossfire and having a problem getting the fog lamps and parking lights to turn off. Even with the car shut off and keys pulled out, they stay on. They do go off when I put on my bright lights which they are suppose to do anyway, but thats the only way..Anyone having or had problems like this! Any input would be appreciated!

They stay on for about 15 seconds after you shut off the car, get out and close the door, if you have had the lights on while driving.
You can defeat this by locking the doors before you close the door.

Just as a side note, when I try to lock the car before closing the drivers door, it won't lock. The passenger door and back hatch locks, but not the drivers door. I have to close the drivers door then push the lock button.

Normal - so you don't lock your keys in the car. My Honda does the same thing & so does my parent's F250.

These freaking cars have more brainpower than we do (or me, at least). Those Germans thought about everything.

The default setting for the foglights is 30 seconds. It can be reprogrammed by the Chrysler Dealer to other durations.

when locking the doors with the door open the driver's door doesn't actually lock, but it does keep the lights from coming on. After closing the door I hit the lock button again and it does lock.

I'm having a similar problem, only it is just my fog lights, no parking lights or anything else. The only way I could get them off was to pull the fuse. All other lighting works as normal. Any ideas?

Do they not turn off after 30-60 seconds?

No...they do not. They're on permanently no matter what unless I pull the fuse.

I'm assuming that you pushed the light switch in correctly.

You turn the light switch to cycle the headlights....you pull or push it to cycle the foglights.

BTW.......you can defeat the 30 second timer by turning off the car and lights, then just cycle the key to the "run" position (not start) and remove the keys and get out of the car like normal. That last key cycle makes the car think that it was operating without the lights on so it doesn't trigger the 30 second timer.

I do appreciate the suggestions so far but I'm not new to the car, I've had it nearly two years and am very familiar with all of its functions. This is an abnormal issue I'm dealing with. I came home to find my car just how I had left it only with the fog lights on. Light control switch was in the "all lights off" position when I got in to check. No matter how I set the light control, no matter what tricks I do with the ignition or door locks, etc. the fog lights stay on if the battery is hooked up and the fuse is in place, period.

Obviously if you were replying to the lead post I'm sure he appreciates it, my problem is not fixed by these things though

Sounds like it's time to get out the ole wiring schematic and see if there is a relay hangin up somewhere.

Looking in the manual, 8w-WIRING page 8W-10-18, the fog lamps are driven from the switch itself from the Centeral Locking Pump/Security System Module(page 8w-39-2) (The Central Locking Pump/Security System Module is located in the right rear of the luggage compartment underneath the trunk floor covering).
Judging by the wiring diagram the problem lies in this unit. As someone said above, it can be programed for different time intervals. Maybe it just needs to be reprogramed. The other option iis to replace this control module. Other option mite be the light switch itself. Try turning the light switch to the park (left/right) setting, get out and lock the car and see if the fog lights go out after 30 seconds.

Bad Key Board, School has nothing to do with a jacked up trunk/Chrysler Product.
I see you are one with no answers, just another dumb *** on this post.

And since you had no answer, either, you must be the other. Yes?
Regards, yourself.

The hatch locks via a vacuum line which can break or get pinched. I've never had to trace it out but if you do a search I believe there are threads. I test drove a XF with this problem but did not buy it. Jap cars -- like those uber reliable Toyota's that take off at full speed without driver intervention, kind like the good old Audis from the 80s?
