fog lights will not shut off
fog lights will not shut off
I just bought a crossfire and having a problem getting the fog lamps and parking lights to turn off. Even with the car shut off and keys pulled out, they stay on. They do go off when I put on my bright lights which they are suppose to do anyway, but thats the only way..Anyone having or had problems like this! Any input would be appreciated!

Re: fog lights will not shut off
I'm assuming that you pushed the light switch in correctly.
You turn the light switch to cycle the headlights....you pull or push it to cycle the foglights.
BTW.......you can defeat the 30 second timer by turning off the car and lights, then just cycle the key to the "run" position (not start) and remove the keys and get out of the car like normal. That last key cycle makes the car think that it was operating without the lights on so it doesn't trigger the 30 second timer.

Re: fog lights will not shut off
I do appreciate the suggestions so far but I'm not new to the car, I've had it nearly two years and am very familiar with all of its functions. This is an abnormal issue I'm dealing with. I came home to find my car just how I had left it only with the fog lights on. Light control switch was in the "all lights off" position when I got in to check. No matter how I set the light control, no matter what tricks I do with the ignition or door locks, etc. the fog lights stay on if the battery is hooked up and the fuse is in place, period.
Obviously if you were replying to the lead post I'm sure he appreciates it, my problem is not fixed by these things though

Looking in the manual, 8w-WIRING page 8W-10-18, the fog lamps are driven from the switch itself from the Centeral Locking Pump/Security System Module(page 8w-39-2) (The Central Locking Pump/Security System Module is located in the right rear of the luggage compartment underneath the trunk floor covering).
Judging by the wiring diagram the problem lies in this unit. As someone said above, it can be programed for different time intervals. Maybe it just needs to be reprogramed. The other option iis to replace this control module. Other option mite be the light switch itself. Try turning the light switch to the park (left/right) setting, get out and lock the car and see if the fog lights go out after 30 seconds.

The hatch locks via a vacuum line which can break or get pinched. I've never had to trace it out but if you do a search I believe there are threads. I test drove a XF with this problem but did not buy it. Jap cars -- like those uber reliable Toyota's that take off at full speed without driver intervention, kind like the good old Audis from the 80s?
