My friend, I work for Chrysler, and I installed windshield wipers. And trust me, there's much more to it than that.

Don't forget, what has Chrysler produced in recent years that anybody really wanted? They quit producing 2-door cars after the 1997 or 1998 neon. Yeah, I know, there was the sebring convertible, which was just a re-badged mitsusushi gallant. They resurected the charger as a 4-door that you still can't get with a manual transmission, great car otherwise, but I still would not buy one. There is no such thing as a 4-door sports car(charger, SRT-4 neon, and SRT-4 hyundai-mitsu caliber). Also don't forget that most of the line-up was also running four cylinder hyundai engines starting in the 2006 model year (in mitsu bodies ) Yes, I am a die hard mopar guy, but the "transportation appliances" that Chrysler has been cranking out for 10+ years are more at home in a rental car lot than in most people's driveways. This, and this alone is the reason they are in the dire straights they are in, and myself and thousands of others have not bought a new Chrysler product since the mid 1990s.
The only car they make now that I would really want to own is the challenger. 2 doors, 6-speed, choice of 2 different V-8s. They must not want to sell these really bad though, you can get the employee pricing and all the other incentives on every other piece of crap on the lot, not the challenger. Wake up Chrysler, not everybody wants a 4-door sedan with automatic transmission! Or, God forbid, a minivan. Guess I'll be driving the crossfire a little while longer.

You sound jealous. Good money is only for CEOs, I guess.

If Chrysler had designed, built and marketed the best cars over the last 3 decades, they wouldn't be in this mess. But they didn't. Japanese car companies have unions, too - but they're not going bankrupt. It's thanks to the Prius, Civic, Accord, Camry, 3, etc. Americans got sick of second best, and we can't afford charity. If the Crossfire wasn't a MB under the skin, I never would have bought one.

We know what happens to the resale value of Chryslers. Unions are to blame for that, too?

The only time you pop up and post anything is when things are controversial. Go back to the rock and crawl back under. There is a name for people like you. It is guys like you that won't stop until you have destroyed this country.

You just can't reason with a guy like you. Must be from all those years of smoking dope in the 60's. Keep taking the drugs... I can tell they are working well for you.

By the way... I know how much you love obama. I love the flyby in NY yesterday. Real smart move! You made a real good choice of president.

Well not to **** anyone off but i dont care if chrysler goes down. I know that parts and things will be hard to find but think about how much of our cars are mercedes. If we can't get them from chrysler just go to mercedes and get them. They sometimes are cheaper over there any ways. Also has anyone ever tried to get something fixed from chrysler, Forget about it. There service is one of the worst i have ever seen. One of my best friends had a 1990 bmw 5 series that went in once with a broken transmission and came out in a week and guess what it was acutally fixed. He didn't have to bring it to 4 different dealers where not one could even fix it. I can't wait untill my warrenty is up so i can stay away from the dumb chrysler tech and all there bullshit on why the can't fix anything. One last thing has anyone had any rust on there car that they can't get fixed. I had my car at the dealer yesterday and they said they can't fix the rust because it has not perferated the body yet. Thats like having a broken arm and going to the doctors and them saying they can't fix your broken arm untill it fall off.

They did not make cars that people wanted? What about the Mini Vans, the LH cars of the early 90's and their successors the 300 series of late, Neons etc, just because you did not want one does not mean that they did not sell. The Challenger is also of limited appeal to the general public, if Chrysler made what you wanted they would have been bankrupt years ago. One of the cars that hardly anyone wanted was the Xfire, ironic eh?

For eighteen years of age you seem to have a lot of experience, hopefully you are still in school and do not have to worry about work and job losses. I wonder if that dumb Chrysler tech can spell better than you though, it would not be too hard.

I'm reading that Chrysler has just reached a deal with their creditors that should prevent them from having to file bankruptcy.

I think to prevent them from entering bankruptcy the following must happen.
  • Negotiate a reduction of labor/ benefit/ wage with UAW.
  • Receive concessions from creditors.
  • Enter into a partnership with Fiat.

It’s looking promising.

Let's not forget that Fiat has already failed in the US before by selling junk. I personally have always wanted to own American cars but I keep getting burned. Americans car companies just can't seem to build a car as good as the Japanese and Germans. I feel like the Amercan car companies just take advantage of our desire to buy American and sell us junk. I have owned many American made cars the last being a 2007 CTS (a camery is built much better). I am done with American cars and would not have a bought a Crossfire if was actually an American car. About the only place on earth where you can go and see everyone driving American cars is Detroit. I don't think the people there have any clue what is going on in the world when it comes to cars. Some friends came to Dallas from Detroit and were in shock to see all the foreign cars. I personally could care less what happens to GM or Chrysler, there are much better built cars out there to chose form.

Sadly thats the view of too many and that is ruining North America, we have to reverse these job losses or your children and grandchildren will be forced to leave the country to get work as second class citizens in the area we now call the third world.
If we do not manufacture major items, we will lose the knowledge and knowledge is power.

PS, maybe the people in Detroit are trying to keep their jobs a little longer by buying North American cars, obviously they cannot rely on you to help them. I will help them and the Canadian workers as much as I can, but they have to take a wage and benefit cut, with less spent on these money can be spent on upgrading the vehicles.

I agree with you, but getting Americans to buy inferior products to protect jobs is not a sustainable business model. The Japanese and Germans have done a good job building their cars here here in America by Americans. If the american manufacturers would just engineer the cars to a higher standard they wouldn't have ever gotten into this mess. I am old enough to remember when Japanese cars where junk and German cars were just plain weird. The American manufacturers took advantage of our goodwill and didn't bother keeping up with the foriegn manufactures strides in quality. Japan and Germany figured out that if they could build a better car than GM, Chrysler and Ford, we would buy them. What Detroit can't seem to figure out is that if they could build better cars than Toyota we would buy them. I think the American manufactures are cheapening the cars inordor to offset labor costs and remain price competitive. GM is saying that they build cars as good as the Japanese now. I say BS and what have they been doing for the last 40 years? They were making that claim in 2007 when I bought a CTS that doesn't even come close to build quality or ride of the Japanese and German cars. I am done with American cars and to protect jobs we should by Mercedes, Nissans, Toyota's and BMW's made in the Southeast USA.
