what does everyone think about a custom candy orange paint job on a crossfire? i was thinking about getting mine painted a diff color because "lol" while me and my wife were at the dragon she was forever asking what car was ours lol. so what does everyone think or just stay stock color? thanks
Re: color
well, and this subject has recently been discussed, would be really expensive to get it done right. I think the candy orange, or a burnt orange, something like the current Ford Edge would be a great color. if you have the means to do it then go for it, it'dd be cool. The only issue I ever see with a change in paint color is everybody thinks you had it done because since the body panels all had to be replaced anyway you might as well paint it. But with the overall price of these cars down where they are I don't think that will matter all that much. Lots of other ways to make your car stand out though. Racing stripe, accent colors, whatever you can dream up.

I'm not a fan of orange on a Crossfire. If you think about it, the Art Deco styling of the car is what attracts the eye. So you'd want to stick with a color that fits the Art Deco motif. That's why Crossfire red isn't fire engine red. That's why Crossfire yellow isn't Volkswagen Beetle yellow. Know what I mean?

So my point is that Art Deco colors will look "right" on an Art Deco car.

Notice that all of the stock colors have an "antique" look to them (except black - how do you antique black?) Check out some Art Deco styling in decorator or architecture magazines. You'll see that they pull from a range of colors that have a certain feel to them.

Re: color
Rob, there was another Forum member who painted his car a kinda burnt orange with a little help from his dad.
And he did a superb job, it was a nice color; not too gaudy.
Darned if I can find the link or the pictures but it might be worthwhile doing a serious search & seeing if you can find the guy & his car.
