Default Acura TL Bixenon retro-fit (ATTN WOODY)

Hey guys working on a project right now and i outsourced the retro-fit portion of the install as i did not want to mess with aligning the optics on the projector.

Here are some pics the installer sent me of trying to mod the tl projector to fit into the stock housing.

WOODY

you wanted to see a stock housing being opened up for $50 bucks well here you go lol

long story short you will get 3.5 lanes wide of lighting and you will like 6-7 car lengths ahead of vision. it increases the spread of the HID light and utilizes the light to the full potential.

in the rain, sleet, or even fog it will cut through everything and help you drive safer at night.

my car is not a collector but a daily driver and i wanted something with excellent vision at night and other weather conditions.

also the lowbeam acura tl projector will do high beam as well.

Just curious, whom did you outsource this to?

guys name is greg cheban

greg.cheban@yahoo.com

he charges a fair price right around $250 shipped for labor and crossfire headlights are a PITA to get into since they do not use traditional glue that melts at high temp using an oven or a heat gun.

he had to cut through the glue and then clean it up and then reseal and check for fogging.

I have not received the lights but hope in couple weeks i will have it in my possession and installed.

i wanted a stock look but the stock halogen suck monkey ***** and this car is a daily driver.

my old acura i retrofitted acura tsx projectors and they kick the crossfire's *** all day long. I wanted that same performance and felt like if my 1993 acura vigor can have that performance why can't a 2008 crossfire.

a) Did you ever consider aftermarket HIDs? Quite a few for sale for the Crossfire.

b) How did the change over work out?

yeah i tried a 55 watt kit which honestly is more like a 45 watt kit and the other ones around ebay and the board are 35 watt.

i tried to use a oem 35 watt ballast with a oem hid bulb and no luck our projector is too small. I have messed around with retrofit on my old car and loved the result.

i imagine once i have the tl projectors all done and installed i should get a jump of about 2.5 times in lighting and spread. I am going to look into running a boosted oem ballast which should give me around 50 watts of 4,100 k.

to many it is an overkill but have the experiance of driving around with oem hid projectrs and the difference it was worth it to me.

projectors bixenon (200)
Ballast (120)
bulb (50)
labor (250)

total is $620 and we will see if it will be worth it in about 3 weeks.

you can see how small the stock projector is and the difference will get amplified over distance.

i added zkw lenses with are extremely clear high polished lenses which will increase intensity and spread.

some more pics of modding the tl projector to make it sharper, more intense and better output over all with some nice color.

Looks like you picked the right guy for the job. Excellent work. Well thought out.

Do you still have the original headlights installed? If so, take a picture with the vehicle in place, mark the pavement and after the conversion install, put the car back and take another picture... I'd LOVE to see the final differences.

Cheers!

thank you you can see the drastic difference modding a OEM HID projector makes when new clear lenses and replacing the shield. the stock crossfire projector is decent and i was impressed with the performance of the halogen projectors for about a week. i was impressed with the stock halogen projectors with hid's for about 2 weeks. i hope this setup will keep me impressed for 3 weeks or longer lol.

i will take pics but can not promise they will be one hundred percent accurate as i will snap some pics and then go do the retrofit couple days after and then take pics later. so it will be close hopefully but i have to aim them anyways. i can tell just by looking at the bowl size between tl and stock i will see a huge increase in width and distance .

update:

Not sure if i mentioned this but i am getting another set of projectors retrofitted in the high beam spot so i can run all 4 projectors as low beam so i will have acura tl with zkw lenses on low beam and rx330 with tsx lenses in high beam. I only have pics of the tl retrofitted and the rx330 is being done as we speak

another update if took a while for my retrofitter as he got a little stacked up and had computer issues.

we are almost done the second set of projector rx330 has been mounted and a custom shield has been made.

angel eyes have been installed

acura tl projects have been mounted.

any one have opinion about chroming the inside of the light or leave it back. i was thinking of chroming the projector shroud or using a oem shroud.
