thanks man gonna finish up on the install wed,

need to install my dedicated midbass in the factory sub location to complete the 3 way setup.

i need to reseal the box where the sub mounts and use a gasket to get a good seal and then add deadener inside the box and add polyfill to give it some more volume.

i will post some really good pics soon

distant,
I have it doubled in the trunk under the foam molded piece, plus I have it inside the heat shields of the exhaust. I got much better results from the balance tube. Maybe your results will be better.

I am really surprised it didn't do anything! What brand did you use? Also, I noticed if you looked at the back panel, there are holes galore back there that would act like a amplifyer from the exhaust. So I covered the whole back area as well. I am going to double up on the trunk floor. Mine really isn't too bad if im driving around town from 0-50. When I get on it, it wakes up, but I like that! Haha. As soon as I get on the highway, it drones around 65-75mph. I have to stay right at 77-80 and its fine, but I am risking a ticket at that speed. If I could just kill the drone a little I would be happy.

I've got it behind the rear panel also. I used B-Quiet a company in Canad. With the balance tube I get a drone that makes your ears feel like your on a plane, but it only occurs at 60-61 mph. infact the faster I go above 61 the quieter the car gets.

The dynamat xtreme looks 10 times better after installation! For the guys with subs; Are you getting trunk noise from outside of the car? I recently got 1st place on a car audio competition for 1000 watts but it only sounds good with the trunk open. So that's bad!

I'm thinking about putting dynamat on the sides of the trunk, where we got the pastic as well as the bottom (by the liner and lift gate to the small windows). Any opinions?

deadening to reduce noise for subs to increase your SPL level if that is what you are after then post up some pics so i can study how the sub is placed and how the sound waves will bounce of the trunk.

main areas that will buzz is the hatch the part where the brake light is. if you tell me how your sub is placed i can get a better idea see my gallery to see the pics i also ended up removing the complete spoiler to deaden that area as there is rattles due to moving parts but i never did the brake light so that is next.

That's all I got. The ported box has its opening towards the driver side where the nos bottle is. The front of the Kicker L7 is to the front of the car. Thanks.

i would say problematic areas will be your whole hatch the stoplight and the spoiler area.

also i would do the top ledge where the intrax stickers are and the plastic panels on the rear quarter window.

another area is the plastic panel on the rear corners of the car the top panels that are big and curved.

on plastic panels this is what i did.

i removed the panel and on the back their is some stock carpeting to reduce road noise.

remove that carpet carefully as you will reuse it but keep in mind it is glued so it is a pain to deal with. use some sort of strong chemical remover type liquid i used duplicolor wax and grease remover to prep the car body for paint. you can get it at o'reilly.

once you get the surfaced totally clean and removed of glue then add some deadener where the carpet goes and lay that down. then i cut out some closed cell acoustical foam called ensolite and glued it down with spray adhesive and then used spray adhesive on the stock carpet and attach to the ensolite. the panels is now solid and does not buzz and you can tell a noticeable difference.

www.raamaudio.com (they have deadener, spray adhesive and ensolite)

if you have left over you can do the differential area, tire wells, exhaust, and the spare jack area.

Thanks. Ah, what's the best way to cover the lift gate in dynamat?

once i removed the spoiler i had access to the inner skin of the hatch and applied deadener to the area around the spoiler. i have not removed the top trim where the brake light is. i will probably apply deadener to the plastic panel around the hatch and the metal on the body once i take the panel off.

i want to bump this thread up and give some updates.

now that i have all the panels in the car and been driving it for more than a month i can tell a big difference in engine noise, exhaust, and road noise. No help in wind since i think it is our frameless windows and maybe we can align them a little tighter.

If i have my stereo at about 20% volume it drowns out all of the noise except a harley bike and at 25% it was drowned out and i am very happy with the result since i am able to drive around town at a good volume music that does not ring your eyes and still drowns out the noise around me. I have driven in downtown, rush hour, and busy intersections and it helps cut down on all the outside noise around me.

I have been happy with the overall result and feel it was worth the money i put into it also i have full audio system so you can hear a lot of rattles on the car in specific areas. The area that i focused on was the spoiler area and the 3rd brake light area top of the hatch panel. It all comes of very easily and is held on by only 3 screws in total. I had much rattle from the top hatch panel and adding one layer of damplifier pro and some ensolite foam i have totally got rid of the rattle. It takes time to find and trace each rattle but it is well worth it in the end and you car feels solid.

Another area that buzzes alot is the door panel and the area around the airbag. I have not gone back in to lay some mat on the doorskin and will add some. The doors them self have been deadened and the bass response out of the door is very deep.

Many people will ask what they can do about exhaust noise for some you can tone them down but it will be near impossible to remove all the drone.

my reccomendation

shoot 3-4 layers of spectrum spray and let it dry for 30 days before you add additional deadener but in 5 days you can install upholstery back. Then go back in and lay 2-3 layers of damp pro around the top and sides of the exhaust tunnel in the rear then line with 1 layer of luxury liner pro. If you are still not satisfied then you will need to drop the exhaust from the catback and apply spectrum sludge to the undercarriage. Overboard i know but the last step is only a last resort and i rather turn up the volume some then drop the exhaust.

Thanks to the update Faiz I took my car out for the first time since installing the dynamat and I must say, it is definately more quiet than before. I only did one layer too! If anyone has a loud exhuast, I reccomend you do this mod!! I plan on doing one more layer and maybe something over the muffler itself.
