Default Front wheel inbalance

I had new tyres fitted last year and after having them fitted there was an inbalance causing a steering wheel shake at about 60MPH so I took the car back to have them rebalanced and they discovered one of the front wheel was out of shape. I had the wheel straightened by an engineering firm and there was still an inbalance.
I eventually bought a new wheel and just had it fitted and guess what there is still an inbalance so it looks like the tyre is at fault.
So I have wasted time and expense in buying a new wheel to discover it was the tyre at fault which I asked about after they were first fitted.
I am getting anew tyre under warranty but to say I'm not happy is an understatement.
The thing I am thinking as well is the tyres have about 2000 miles on them so is it okay to replace just one tyre? I would say no but what's the chance of me getting them to replace both tyres?
There is hardly any wear on them but even so I would never just replace one tyre.

What do you guys think?

Norrie.

I would think that if you drive lightly, and the tire being replaced shows little wear, It should be OK to replace just the one.

I doubt seriously that they would replace two tires if only one is suspect. But point of clairification here, did the car shimmy before you put the new tires on it ??? If not then the new tires should have been suspect the whole time and not the wheels.

With only 2000 miles on the replacement tires I wouldn't have a problem with running a brand new tire in the mix. I doubt that there'd be 1/32" difference in tread depth unless you drive it like an animal !!!

That's just my Dos Centavos

No the car was fine before the tyres were fitted and I asked at the time if it could be the tyres and was told no.
