Unhappy Dealer put steering wheel on crooked?

I recently had my igntion lock replaced ($1300 :-/) and they had to completley take apart the dash to get to it. When i drove it home i noticed the steering wheel is slightly tilted to the right and if i try to straighten it out the car veers left. I called the dealer back and they said they'd have a look at it but they're pretty sure it "only goes on one way" and "it must have been that way before and your just now noticing it". It most certainly was not crooked before. They're taking a look at it today, what do i do if they call back and say they can't do anything? Are they right about it going back on one way?

They have to turn it on the splines thats all. When they come of its pretty easy to mark the spline alignment, one spline out and the wheel is quite a way of center. Do not take any BS from them.

Sounds like sloppy work by the dealer. What 180 said..........tell them it wasn't that way when you brought it in. If they don't fix it then what Max said. 1300 bucks in tough times and they still treat you like crap. I have a buddy at work that was basically verbally attacked for complaining about a repair job that wasn't done (they said it was) on his brand new 35k Chevy truck. And the car companies wonder why they have no credibility with the American public.

Just got a call from the dealership. They said that they drove it and they do see what I'm talking about however "that steering wheel is keyed and only goes in one way, it would be like trying to put a normal key in upside down or sidways, it simply wouldn't insert". However they're being nice enough (after all the other crap they put me through, i haven't even mentioned that to you guys yet) to put the car up on a rack and check suspension, etc and he said maybe it was something that happened during the towing of the car to the dealership, which they would hold the towing company liable for. Any opinions?

Actually that's very possible, or someone drove it through a large pot hole. That will misalign the steering. Make sure there's no wheel damage. I found this out on my MINI when the wheel was cocked. There had been some suspension damage.

Putting the wheel on the wrong spline is a relatively easy fix with no harm done. A suspension damaged out of your control is not something I'd want to be chasing. Good luck with that.
