A while back I stopped by the local Mercedes Dealer to pick up a fleece filter for $19.95 (instead of $31 at a Chrysler Dealer). I spoke with the service manager. He said that they would work on the car if need be since much of the mechanics are Mercedes. Also, it would be helpful to them if I would bring in the service manual (that I have). However, I am sure it would cost an arm and a leg, and the Maxcare warranty means nothing to them. I now kind of wish I would have picked up a generic extended warranty.

What, I gave you an excellent write-up in my earlier post which you did not reply to?? But I have to agree with you about having the GTI up there in the colder months. I would only drive my GTI because it handled the snow a lot better. I couldn't own rear wheel drive cars and felt much safer in my GTI. I'm actually enjoying my SRT-6 more than my GTI because of the simple fact of turning low 12's with minimal mods and surprising a lot of folks at the track. And of course living down here in Florida means I can drive all year round and not worry about the weather. I almost bought a MKV GTI before making the SRT6 purchase mainly because of the price. My SRT-6 had only 2300 miles on her last year and bought it for $21k. And I had to stick with German engineering. Hard to beat a proven AMG drivetrain for so little money which was handbuilt in Germany.
Also on a side note... I wish my SRT-6 had that dual clutch DSG 6-spd auto tranny that the new GTI's have. That is one of the best I've ever seen and is faster than a manual... My SRT would easily be an 11 second car with it.

 

got any good idea's on some mods for MKV.... neuspeed intake was good for me apr tune was excellent trying to find a good lightweight fly...any injectors? muffler? I was going to go with the eurosport.....but I heard better things about the Tectonics tuning. I also have to agree with ya on dsg...I have the manual...why an auto w/turbo not as much fun! my wife has one in her passat and what a tranny do you know of the "takeoff" system.... foot on brake and gas let off brake and take off like a bat out of hell! If the srt had dsg that would help you guys tremendously!

And I was just capitalizing on that! I know the GTI isn't as "nice" as x-fire.. it will come out a lot faster when its all said and done...my opinion was just stating that it wasn't a very useful vehicle in n the northeast.....made a joke about how it was faster than the x-fire (not the SRT) and people got offended at my joke I said sorry in earlier post's but you guy's can't get over the fact that the truth hurts!

If your VW is really as good as you say it is (maybe it is?), there should be no need for you bash the Crossfire...since you at one point, owned one yourself...by choice I'm sure.
