New (to me) crossfire
Re: New (to me) crossifre
Yes, it was a late night last night driving our new baby home. We are now the proud owners of an 05 XF, woohoo ! I did not use my auction connection, as I just happened upon this deal that was too hard to turn down. I just cold called about an ad in a nearby (3 hrs) town and I soon got the impression that this dealer was really motivated to sell. Asking price was 12,995 so I mentioned I could do better with my auction bud and he wouldn't let me off the phone until he sold it. He came down to 10,900 and so I said I'll take it if we like it. So we drove it and liked it. But I noticed the air pump was missing (and another part I'm not sure?) and I also mentioned that the rear tires were dangerously worn. So not wanting me to leave, he came down another 250 which made the final price 10,650 and we had a deal.
Re: New (to me) crossifre
We got 30 mpg over 180 miles on the interstate, all between 70 and 75 mph, which surprises me. Driving it leads me to some questions: Is there some visual confirmation that the cruise control is active and set? How does the rear wing button function? I realize the rear tires were worn out but I noticed some road noise on the highway, which didn't really bother me much, but my wife noticed (it will be mainly her car). I'm guessing it's coming from the large open area of the hatch, maybe some insulation would help. It doesn't really pull to one side, but the steering wheel is kinda off-center.

No visual on the cruise control.
Can't help ya with the wing question as my wing is stuck in the up position and I kinda like it that way!
Wheel alinement time.
Thinking more and more about gettin the wife that red roadster. I'll have ta get with you sometime about the whole auction thing.
Enjoy the "new" XF!

Congrats on the car, bet it was a blast driving it home, I drove 6 hours to pick mine up - in a Jeep Liberty - lease turn it - but the drive home - still grinning almost 2 years later. Mine too had shot tires - put Goddyear's on the next week - almost no road noise - & I have the roadster. Wing goes up at 62mph and back down around 40mph. or use the botton - if not then you have a problem - good luck
and hope you enjoy the car!
PS - tires are pricey
