Anyone Install A Blaupunkt
Anyone Install A Blaupunkt
I ordered a London MP48 (with antena adaptor) and was hoping it would be a plug and play in a base coupe model. Anyone install a Blaupunkt on a base model? Was it easy? Was it a plug and play? Everyone says all Blaupunkt radios are plug and play on the limited but I am assuming the radio wires are different on a limited Vs coupe. Please help!
Re: Anyone Install A Blaupunkt
Amazing!
I just did the same thing yesterday... I posted my install here.

It takes a couple of minutes, and it is truly plug and play.
Good Luck.
BTW, you will also need the tools to yank your old radio.
Let me know if you have any problems.

Re: Anyone Install A Blaupunkt
I just installed the Blaupunkt London MP48 in my 2005 base coupe. Plug and play! Everything works great. I even ran an Ipod plug from the back of the radio. Only problem is that it continues to charge the ipod even when the car and radio are off. Think that will drain the battery? Or is there a way to tell it to stop charging? It is now time to read the owners manual.
By the way, my factory radio has the exact same plug design. It looks like there are the same plugs for an external device. I could plug my ipod adaptor in the factory radio. I wonder if it would work??? Anyone try that?
I am also wondering if the powerfull new stereo might blow the factory speakers.
Special thanks to Brucero!

Thank you for your quick reply blackcrossfire07!

By the way, I am a real novice at this! I can't help you on the wires. But there is a 99% good chance you can just plug and play. I love the new radio... just not crazy about the red buttons. But it does match the other red buttons on the console (like the AC button).

I am willing to bet yours is a plug and play too. Do a search on your stereo in this forum and I bet others installed the same stereo. I think the only difference in wiring would be if you had the factory nav unit. The install took me a while only because people kept calling me and I didn't want to rush it. I just unplugged the negative on the battery of the car. Used the radio keys provided by Crutchfield and slid the old radio out. Then I plugged everything in. The back of our factory radio has the exact same setup as the new Blaupunkt. Same plugs, design and everything! Really wierd! Makes me wonder if you really could put a Blaupunkt ipod adaptor on our factory radio. The plug is there in the same spot and the prongs look identical to the spot on the Blaupunkt that I plugged the ipod adptor in!

Ok cool.. I'll let you know how it goes this weekend.. hopefully some pictures too!!! Thank you again for all your help..
Re: Anyone Install A Blaupunkt
I just ordered the Blaupunkt London MP37 and the antenna adapter:
It's a 2007 model, but that's fine, I think it's silver faceplate will be a perfect match to the Crossfire interior (once the black trim piece is painted silver). It has a good anti-skip memory on the CD player, and pretty much everything else the other MP units have including Variocolor display featuring 4,096 colors for customized appearance to match any dash lighting, EQ, X-Bass, MP3, RDS, iPod and Bluetooth-ready, front panel AUX-In, etc.

Hey Blackcrossfire07 Well I did it!!! Your advice worked out great.. The radio installed 1-2-3... The sound is very nice.. I haven't taken any pics yet.. probably this weekend.. Anywho.. The only problem I guess.. is that I hear a high pitch noise coming out of the speakers.. sound like when you turn up a stereo real loud and nothing is coming out but, some high pitch noise reciver noise... not sure what it is.. but, everything else seems to be working great I paired my iphone with the stereo so I can talk to people over my speakers.. I also trying to hook up my Samsung P2 player so I can listen to all my Rhapsody tunes... I will let you know how that goes.. Thank you again for your help.. and eveybody on the forum for there tips..

I don't think it is there when I use the CD or radio... only with the ipod adaptor. Also, I hate that the radio won't cut power to the adaptor when the car and radio is off. I am afraid the ipod will drain the battery because it is constantly charging even when the car is off. I heard some factory radios will keep charging the ipod up to 20 minutes after the car turns off... but I don't know if that is the case with the Blaupunkt.

The hiss is really only there above volume level 41. The higher it goes, the louder the hiss. And you only really hear it between songs when it is quiet. 41 is pretty loud and I hardly put it up that high anyway. If the hiss bothers you, the best thing to do is probably use the front Aux jack and raise the volume on the ipod. The audio sounds great though.... I guess a little hiss with the radio blasting is better than using FM modulators and transmitters.
Re: Anyone Install A Blaupunkt
Thanks J Green. Let me know how everything goes. I pulled the Ipod adpator out of my car radio because I can't deal with the hissing. I can't imagine there is a bad ground because it was a plug and play. It should work correctly. I am going to use the cig lighter to charge and plug the ipod in the front of the deck. I bet I will get better sound. Plus my Cig lighter turns on and off with the car so I don't have to worry about killing the battery or charging the ipod too much.
By the way... I love the MP3 Player! I made a disc of 100 songs and it only took half of the space! The radio also reads the name of the songs! That alone makes me a happy customer! Keep me updated.
