Default Winter driving

well, today was the first real test of my Cross with the Conti all seasons, and I have to say she passed with absolute flying colors. We're in the midst of a significant snowstorm here in Mpls. I just got home through about 4 inches of ice and heavy wet snow and we're all in one piece. Light on the throttle, follow the tracks and hardly any real slip at all. One spot was touchy when all the cars were stopping in freeway traffic up a hill, but again the key was to keep rolling and we made it just fine. Couldn't get up the drive as it is a somewhat steeper incline, but a shovel and snowblower to clear a path and up she went. Any rear drive would have had real trouble, and I suspect a front drive wouldn't have gotten too much further either. I'm happy. A winter tire would be better, but all in all I'm not too dissatisfied with how the Conti's performed. As my daily driver I know I made the right choice in a car.

Boy, you have alot more courage than me. I took the little Chevy Aveo to work in St. Louis Park today, and kept the Crossfire safely in the garage. Hopefully I can get the Crossfire out this weekend sometime.

LOL! Not courage Win, my only car. I do have an Explorer, but when I got the Cross I took it to my mechanic to do a full run thru to determine if it was worth keeping, mainly for towing and stuff like that. It's 10 years old with 168K on the clock, runs ok, not great, but ok. He's really busy and I said it was no big deal, take your time, and that was in early December! On the other hand, I've had a free space to store it all winter as I don't have the space at home. If I'd've had the Explorer at home I would have taken that today. But as it turned out, the Cross was alot better than I expected.

I have a Jeep 4x4 for the winter so the Crossfire can stay warm and cozy in the garage (exept for nice days of course).

It looks like the boss is moving me to Ft Lauderdale. It's a good thing as this winter in MN has pushed me right off the edge.

I'll need to find a place and a bunch of new friends. It'll be great putting the top down and enjoying the sunshine in the middle of winter. Are there alligators there?
