Show your cell/iPod Mounts
I can't drive with a cell in my hand...

For me, having a phone in my hand and holding it against my head is a pain and definitely creates a distraction. Both the vehicles I drive are sticks. I can't drive with one hand all the time. I have to shift. I signal. I steer. One hand doesn't cut it. I used to hate being called on the cell before hands-free. I didn't answer it because it definitely interfered with my driving.
With my hands free I can steer, signal, shift, wave (number of fingers optional), etc. In my current vehicles, the head unit automatically mutes the tunes when a call comes in so I don't have to fumble with that.
I don't agree with the study that hands-free makes no difference. Like a lot of statistics that get quoted, they don't usually come with all the facts. I just don't think valid conclusions can be drawn without understanding the conditions of the test, and the basic abilities of the drivers involved.
All I know is that for me, having the phone out of my hands makes a huge difference. Using automation and consolidation of the one control (answer/volume/hang-up) with the same **** I use for everything else makes a huge difference - I don't have to take my eyes off the road to deal with anything. A quick stab and I have answered, ignored or hung up a call. In my vehicles, I still avoid placing calls while moving and sometimes don't answer incoming calls. Something about dialing a 10-digit number on a keypad the size of a bottle cap... I have been known to "dial" in my wife's Jeep Commander - "Lola" (the voice command assistant) lets me say the number and have it confirmed and then dialed automatically...
Hey - let's have a rant about all the newbie GPS users running around with their giant-screen GPS units stuck to the middle of the windshield!
Re: Show your cell/iPod Mounts
Once again, let me apologize for starting the cell-bashing. I took this thread off track and am alone to blame.
But, if you happen to touch bumpers with me, and you are using ANY form of cell phone, using it as evidence in the lawsuit will be a messy, disgusting job. But I will.

Ok, you wanted some pics...here they are. I had this setup for about 10 minutes but took it down because of all the clutter. Besides, I'd rather hear the exhaust note rather than music or someone chattering on the phone.

Cost was less than five bucks but I spent the better part of a day fitting and such.

I worry the viewing angle is low so it becomes unsafe since you have to look essentially toward the floor.
It's the same location as ProClips but has a much nicer installed look. Which I think might be the best since it doesn't obstruct any controls?

This gives the manufacturer the ability to simplify their offerings. There are some standard bolt patterns in common use (the "AMP" pattern being one example).
I like the Kuda. But I did the math and decided I didn't really need it that bad, especially since my phone couples and after that is pretty much out of the picture - it can be anywhere so I just stash it.
If I was going to buy a phone mount for the Crossfire, the Kuda would be the one (an extra premium for the dark slate...)
Re: Show your cell/iPod Mounts
Yeh, of the many options I've tried in all my past vehicles I'd know that mounts are 2 pieces for vehicle specific applications. The part that threw me off with the Kuda is there aren't even mounting holes/pattern. Why wouldn't someone looking at these just stick their holder to their console. I do understand them, don't get me wrong. Just don't see why they make these nice expensive leather Kudas and use mounting tape to secure the holder which is NOT permanent and will come loose with use.
