When did you get new brakes?
When did you get new brakes?
I guess I am not hard on my car... but I now have 50K miles on my 2005 coupe and no sign of needing brakes yet. No noise! How about everyone else?
By the way, now the noise from my AC went away. It has been there for months and now the noise went away right before I am going to bring it in. Go figure! I will clean the blower out this weekend and hopefully that will keep the noise from coming back.

Re: When did you get new brakes?
I changed mine for the first time around 60K. The brake wear sensor was pretty accurate. Not long after the light went on, I could feel and hear that the brakes were low. The fronts were in need of immediate replacement but the backs had a good amount of wear left. I ended up changing them all at once. Rotex gold brake pads and using the shop manual pdf floating around the forums.

Re: When did you get new brakes?
I changed the brakes on the Aero at abou 23K. Like Mike, not because they needed it. I wanted to change the rotors to slotted, change to better pads(DiskItalia TitaniumKevlar) and put on SS brake line.
The factory pads I took off still have about 75% wear left on them.

Pull the front wheels and take a look at how much pad you have left. If you truly are easy on the brakes then at 50k you could still have a lot left. You could go to any car forum and take a similar pole and you'd find a range from 20k to 100k for replacement. Too darn many variables in the way folks drive.
Re: When did you get new brakes?
Just crossed 63k on my 05 coupe and quite literally just finished swapping the rear for some DI Titanium Kevlar and a pair of slotted rotors (same price as OEM). They are making a bit of noise as they rub but I attribute that to the rotors being so new. The groves had a very slight notch on the edges so I am sure that will stop as soon as I take it out for some rough driving. I have changed the front twice since owning it though. First time to get rid of the dust and the second because they were finished....obviously.
I plan to change the front soon to drilled rotors and more DI Titanium Kevlar pads just for the sake of doing the upgrade. Regardless they still have plenty of wear left. Probably another 15k at least.
Next big change will be that MB airbox CAI floating around the forums.

Re: When did you get new brakes?
Just got my car back from service, oil, filters and the drivers heated seat - car just turned 45,000 mile was sure that they would need brakes - dealer said nope - had more than enough left - was kind of hoping they would need to be replaced - then I could go dustless - but I will wait some more - and just keep cleaning ( heater seat was repaced under the extended warranty - cost a $100.00 for the deductable)
