Or you could try the switch on your center console, right next to the spoiler and hazard buttons?

That will disable the TCS, but will not disable the STM. If stability management is what you're talking about, there is a fuse will have to pull.

In the underhood accessory fuse box, look for the 40 amp, orange fuse occupying slots 17-18. That will disable the STM, or in this car, called the Electronic Stability Program. Same thing.

Honestly, It's probably in your best interest to leave it in though. You can get plenty of wheel spin and fishtail the car enough with it on.

ok i have to turn off that traction control. Its awful in the snow it wont let you get any rpms up to get the car moving.

Yep. Just press the button in the center console cluster and you should be fine. Just dont run the RPM's too high, you'll just end up digging yourself in a hole. I've accidently done that a few times this winter.

You don't need to pull the fuses to drive in the snow.

What you need to do is throw some weight in the back of the car. I've made it through snow deep enough to plow it with the front end of the car.

If you must drive in snow I find these rules to be worth following because if the other guy is out of control you have to be in control.
1, Snow/Ice tires, you will feel the difference.
2, Some reasonable weight in the trunk, 100# or so.
3, Traction Control ON, unless you are really stuck when you switch it off to avoid overheating the brakes.
4, Keep the revs down, avoid rapid acceleration and braking.
5, Windows clean and free of snow, if someone is going to hit you it is best to know about it.
6, Pull away in second gear.
7, The golden rule, if it is really bad, do not go out.

Good advice all from a Canadian who has surely driven in snow from time to time.

Thanks Franc, we do it every year but you would be amazed how many drivers here never learn and put other people at risk as well as themselves. The police here never use the word accident these days, as they say that there are no accidents as someone is always to blame for the collisions.

I've got an uphill S shaped driveway in the lake effect snow belt east of Cleveland and the first thing I do when trying to shoot the drive is turn the traction control off.

If I don't do that the rear brakes apply to the temporarily spinning rear wheels until they bring the car to a stop.

It's a shame the limited slip differential available on the automatics wasn't also provided on the manual transmission models.

If it is an automatic, don't forget the winter button next to your shifter. W is for winter and starts the car in second gear... S is for summer. Dunlop 3D tires the best for our car. I am in NJ, snow has just melted from late October and have had no issues what so ever with up to 4 inches here. No weight in back either.
