Headlight assembly replacement (not just bulbs) ??
Headlight assembly replacement (not just bulbs) ??
The headlight cover on my drivers side looks like someone took sandpaper to it. I tried various polishes and it still looks like chit. I saw a clean headlight assembly on fleabay for $75 (with free shipping) and though why not, can't beat the price, and it's the entire unit with bulbs, and the whole works.
I searched here and only found bulb replacement threads.
Has anyone replaced their complete headlight assembly ? How difficult is it ? Any special tools required ?
TIA,
Brian

Looks good Stogey, wish I'd seen it before I bought the spare housing unit
Did you buff it by hand, or with a machine ?
My headlight cover is more scratched looking, strange as I'm not sure what the heck it's from and there's nothing wrong with the paint around it. Yours looked more like it had a film or etching into the plastic. Maybe I'll still try to buff it with Crystal View.

For twenty bucks you can't go wrong ! Be sure to keep a spray bottle of water handy and keep the surface of the lens wet through the whole process. The kit comes with everything you need just follow the instructions. It says it only takes about 10 minutes per lense, mine were etched and pitted so it took me about an hour and a half. I don't own a buffer so it was all elbow grease !
