I have a few questions for all you XF owners!
Hello, I have been looking for a crossfire for a year (still havent found the right one), and know a bit about the car. Now, I dont know as much as you do and was wondering if you could help me.
I am a Freshman in College and have to watch the funds. If you dont mind, what kind of expenses can I expect to have for the tires, oil, brakes, and anything else you can think of. Also, what kind of fuel economy do you get, I will be driving 8k miles a year 50/50 highway city.
Also, if you have any other info/tips to help me out that would be great.
Thank you for all your help. I love the car, but want to make sure I can afford it with a college budget!

Re: I have a few questions for all u XF owners!
It's not an economy car ... although oil is oil, the tires are expensive, the gas mileage is ordinary by most standards, and unless you are capable of wrenching on it yourself, many repairs can be done only by a dealer and are not cheap.
Whether it's within the reach of a 'college budget' is going to depend on your particular budget ... even translated into 2008 dollars, it certainly would NOT have been within the reach of the budget I was on while in college ...

I think the really important part of FPs message is "as long as you have warranty coverage" ... having that would certainly mitigate repair expense ... in my original repsonse, I'd been thinking from the point of view of a used vehicle that had passed from warranty coverage ... which may well not be the case for you ...

i am in college if that helps but i work a part/full time jobs between 25-35 hours a week and make around 15 bucks an hour selling cell phones at Sprint Nextel. I graduate by may and have a couple offeres lined up. My job at sprint helps me pay for the car, payment is around $259 since i only financed $13,000 of the $17,000. Bought the car brand new just got delivery today from the truck that shipped it from tx to missouri. I figured it is under manufacture warranty so that should help for the first 3 years.
My brother on the other hand is a sophmore in college and he to works at sprint and did the same thing financed the car for $13,000. he is gonna get very close on his monthly bills and have around 300-400 to play with every month. If you are buying a used car with heavy miles it will be hard to pay the payments, maintenance and any other repairs that come up along with your normal bills.
shop around i got my 08 manual brand spanking new for 17,000 plus ttl.
insurance is not to bad since the policy is under my parents name it is around $40 a month for full coverage with 500 deductible
