Crossfire's 3rd Worst Selling Auto in '08
Re: Crossfire's 3rd Worst Selling Auto in '08
Wow, Goldwing. I'm impressed. Do you drive all three? Do you store all three during the winter? The more I look at that roadster, the more I wish I had one. I can't decide between that and a Smartcar, though. Could you see me autocrossing a SmartCar. That would be so fun.
And, Ohhhhh Franc, I don't really recall any SRT6 holding you up, but please please let me know if I was one of them.
To prospective buyers, drive it like you stole it and you'll never be sorry. By the way, at current prices they are are steal.

Poor advertising, Then that jerk on Top Gear with his Crossfire road test review..Oh My Gosh!! This guy just hates anything related to American's. Said our cars styling was from a dog taking a number two dump. I was pissed at that statement but still had to laugh. The prices are right! Buy 2. Don Number 2 styling....So Funny!!

Jane, I think a Roadster with a 6-Speed would be a great daily driver/auto crosser. Hell, you can get one with warranty for about the same as a Smart Passion Cabriolet, maybe less. I'd love to have another one, and I'd buy a Roadster with a stick.
These truly are the best keep secret in the automotive world. I consider myself an ambassador for them. People are always blown away by what it can do, and what it actually is.
I can't believe someone in the market for a cheap sports car would choose anything else after looking at a crossfire.

The Crossfire actually came out on top in Top Gear's Roadster comparison test between the Audi TT 3.2, Nissan 350Z Touring, and Crossfire 6-Speed. That says a lot coming from Clarkson...

You can't feather the clutch thru a downhill turn with an autostick but then manuals don't have an OMG button. It's a trade off.
As for the roadster, stick or auto, even an SRT if you can find one, is worth every minute of your time in it, no matter how much it depreciates.
roadster with a stick
As It Should Be!

I can't forgive that.

I'm still offended by Clarkson's review too. After all they never reviewed the SRT-6. They ALWAYS go out of their way to review the AMG versions of all the Mercedes on the show. Why not the SRT-6?
It's just Clarkson being a predjudice jerk. If it's not a Jag or a supercar he doesn't like it. Screw him.

Re: Crossfire's 3rd Worst Selling Auto in '08
it's interesting to me that this car did so poorly. i RARELY go anywhere without having someone from 14years old all the way to 70+years old ask me "what kind of car is that? it's BEAUTIFUL!" men, women, teens etc. they also will ask what brand it is, and if they still sell them.
how can people like the car so much, and it is reasonably priced, yet not moving? it's so weird, i even have friends who say they are 'jealous' i have such a nice car! i don't want to tell them i paid $18,000!!!! and i am SERIOUSLY considering buying another!
i pulled into a drive-thru the other day in my SSB, and the kid said "is that the james bond car??? WOW!" ...maybe i just live in a strange city....
is it the 'impracticality' of the car? the timing?
also, how are the SLK sales comparatively? anyone know?

This car, IMO, is not bad as a daily driver. I would know... I drive it as one.

The office manager at work laughs at me because of the number of times my car has gone in for warranty work. But I bet nobody has ever told her that her car, a Toyota Solara, was beautiful.
Re: Crossfire's 3rd Worst Selling Auto in '08
If you have the money and are looking for a fun 2 seater, find the lowest mileage Coupe or Roadster you can find and grab it. This car as everyone has said is an undiscovered, underappreciated gem. I turned mine back after leasing it for 3 years because the buyback was too high and the values on the cars tanked making them more affordable to buy new or slightly used. I chose to go in another direction buying a slightly used (3,900 mile) Porsche Boxster. I don't regret my decision because I was looking for a new Crossfire and couldn't find exactly what I wanted. Now I'm already thinking of replacing my daily driver in 2 years (an '08 Jetta 2.0T) with another Crossfire but possibly a Coupe this time. I'll do just what I did with the Porsche, find the lowest mileage most perfect car I can find and let the first owner take the bath. These cars are wonderfully made cars, maybe the best put together car I ever owned. With prices what they are they're a steal.
