Exclamation Exhaust Leak by Driver's Cat.

Hi all,
I have been throughly enjoying my XFire since the State Farm funded motor swap. Unfortunately, the dealer's 'techs' seem to have forgotten to reinstall the pair of captured bolts back into the exaust hanger on the driver's side. Therefor, I developed a severe exhaust leak at the joint by the Cat. Is there a gasket there? I've called the local auto houses and none of them even show a gasket. Should I search out one at my local MB dealer or should I just remove both bolts and clean the mated areas and re-assemble?

Help!

-Wayne K.

P.S. I ordered my Magnaflow cat back exhaust system Thursday! I've already had the rear Cats removed by a local exhaust shop. They actually did it in trade to take the Cats. Workd for me! -WK

I havent had mine off, but I am pretty sure that there is supposed to be a gasket there. I think others have posted about having a problem with getting the gasket off without damage and having to replace. Check with 240M3SRT3, he just did a whole new exhaust.

I just took the bolts out, hit them with a wire brush to remove the surface rust, soaked them in penetrating oil, and I will soon reinstall them. They seemed to have been in at way different lengths. I'm hoping that somehow the idiot 'techs' just put it on crooked.]

I put it back together slowly and kept the bolts 'level' and all is now good. Of course SOMEONE will be back down there this coming week once my Magnaflow gets in. LoL I know for sure it WON"T be me. LoL

P.S. I'm waiting for pictures from this weekends event. :-)
