reliabilty problems
reliabilty problems
I bought a left over 07 coupe last week and have been reading many posts on this forum and am curious about reliabilty. Some on the board have had many issues with the 04 and 05 models and I was wondering if the newer models are any better.
are these trouble prone vehicles or do they just require much routine attention or both.
I retired from DIRT modified racing , after 38 years, and was looking for a fun driver that I didnt have to work on every week. Garage full of tools , but not one metric, one look under the hood and I decided that this crossfire is more advanced than my Big block chevy or for that matter me. I guess that I am wondering when to expect the honeymoon to end.
regards Howard

Welcome! If there are things that may go wrong, it's already posted here somewhere. That's why this site is soooooo great! Lots of folks sitting by ready to lend you their advice (be it right or wrong).
Suggest you start by just reading posts and listening to the community.
Lots to be learned here.
Here's one search to get you started. https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...earchid=586227
BTW I made the transition from Chevy big blocks to an SRT no reason you can't!
Enjoy the site!

Re: reliabilty problems
Congradulations on the new coupe and welcome to the forum. I have had my '05 since May of '06 and it now has about 52,000 miles on it other than oil changes and tires the only problem I had was an 02 sensor that the dealer took care of, it wasn't even the sensor just a loose connection. I bought mine as a weekend toy and don't drive it once the road salt comes out, but it is so much fun to drive, I can't keep the miles down.
If you are in Mercer, I am in Andover, OH, so we are practically neighbors, need to set up a little G-T-G sometime, there are a few others on here that like to meet up every now and then, in fact Tom2112, is your neighbor he lives in Sharon.
Enjoy your new Crossfire (traction control is going to make it harder to be sideways in the turns)

Re: reliabilty problems
I would agree with the prior comments! I have an 06 SE roadster. I've had it for 13 months without a single problem. I get lots of comments on the looks and it's a ball to drive. It has been back to the dealer for two oil changes and that's it! The Crossfires are great cars and at the prices nowadays they are (IMHO) a steal for a car of this style and quality.
I think you see from the great majority of the comments on this forum that the owners love their car and that's the best testament of all!
Wasn't it the old Packard ads whose tag line was "Ask the man who owns one! " Different car same thought. You'll love a Xfire.

Re: reliabilty problems
Four summers and 32k miles without a problem on the roadster, other than a loose driver's window bracket fixed under warranty. Just doing the oil/filter changes before storing it for the winter.
Felt so confident I bought an SRT6 with no extended warranty - just needed the intercooler replaced under OEM warranty.
And added the 2007 roadster with another couple years left on the OEM warranty. So far very few miles but no problems.
If I thought they were problematic, I would not have bought 3.

Re: reliabilty problems
Warning to new owners.....the alignment is only warrantied for the first 12 months/12K miles....so if the treads appear to be wearing uneven (even slightly)....take it back within those limits.
Goldwing, are you the only human that owns 3 of these things?......that's 25.5 quarts of Mobil-1!!!! That's 36 spark plugs!
