I'll be damned, I was just fabricating a dead pedal and now you tell me they added them...that is surprising on car on the way out...must be a MB feature too...

That's it. Not much to it but I certainly notice the difference between driving the 2007 and the 2005 -- it's gives a little more support.

I checked mine - 2006 RHD model, and I have a carpeted ledge/footrest to the left of the clutch. Nothing on what I would consider the passenger side of the car. It seems to be some kind of foot rest. There is no metal or rubber plate there, so I didn’t really consider it as anything other than general shaping until this thread popped up.

we use them in the trucking industry...it gives you a place to rest your foot, I even thought about mounting one made for the big rigs in the roadster...its adjustable, so you can pick your height, but now I may have to check out Chrysler to see if this is permanent, or an add on feature...

After scooting my seat up really far for spirited driving at the dragon, I decided I need one of these. I will check at the dealership this evening. I will post the part number for anyone else that wants one. I just hope my heavy duty rubber Chrysler mats fit with it on there.

I started using mine, and I found that I could not slip my foot off the "dead pedal" onto the clutch. I have to lift it up, which I kind of get but for me, I’d almost consider building it up to the height that makes the clutch easier to get to.

I just bought the three pieces necessary to add the dead pedal to my 2005 Crossfire.

5098567AA BRACKET-FOOT $17.30
68001751AA SVC KIT $24.80
68011616AA PAD-FOOT $40.35

I will write a tutorial as they are installed.

I have to say one thing.
As the term states "dead pedal"
A dead pedal is just that non funtioning PEDAL. Not a bump in the floor but an actual PEDAL!
Usually found in performance or sport automaobiles to aid in support of a drive OR passenger. Been around forever!
Not a Bump
or a Lump
But a pedal.

Is it adequate to attach the dead pedal with adhesive? The formymercedes site suggests that drilling could be dangerous since there are wires underneath.

I have also read about the dangers of drilling, but it appears the pedal in the 2007 is attached with a couple bolts. You might check with a dealer - they may have a diagram showing installation. Adhesive may work, but not on the carpet.

Suggestion: find out from the dealer if the pedal is secured by screws or nuts/bolts - then find someone with a 2007-08 and remove and measure. The reason I say nuts/bolts is I would be concerned that if the nut is not welded to the bottom of the panel it could fall off and be a bear to replace.

Possibly one of the other members has already bought and installed and can provide a better tip.

Remember that anything attached in this area must be secure, if it came loose and got behind the pedals you are in deep $$t.
I had something roll from under the seat of another car once and it was hairy.

This is a significant issue for me. I'm about 5'7", and cannot position the seat comfortably for left leg. I usually drive with my left leg cocked, left foot flat on the floor. On long drives it plays havoc with my lower back.

My previous sports car had a healthy-sized dead pedal that brought the left foot up to the level of the right foot when on the accelerator pedal.

I thought of screwing in something aftermarket, but if there's a factory-blessed alternative...

If anyone get this installed, please advise. How high is it -- how much does it raise the left foot?

Hat tip to Tulsa for finding the part numbers.

I took the black plastic dead pedal off my 2007 coupe to see how it was attached. Looks like they just cut holes in the plastic under the carpet and added metal clips to screw the two bolts into. The part numbers that I got directly off the part are different than those that were posted earlier. Looks like M-B part numbers.

Black Dead pedal:
A193 684 00 77

Two bolt covers:
A193 682 00 16

Looks like it would be simple to add, but you would probably need new floor mats.

Nope, still haven't installed it. I'm not sure everything is necessary, but I have it just in case.

For $83 it does not look like much, but that's auto parts for you, They will cost even more in Canada.
I think I might pile 83 one dollar bills on top of each other and stick them under the carpet, same effect and I will always have gas money if I run short.
