Question about Salt & Pepper Shaker Parts...
Question about Salt & Pepper Shaker Parts...
I snagged a set of Crossfire Salt and Pepper shakers on that auction site but...
Would someone who has a set take a look and tell me - does each shaker have a bottom cover with a white insert inside?
The set I got has one nice cardboard box with a Crossfire on it, one clear plastic dust cover, one heavy base, two shakers that each have a silver bottom cover but only one has a white insert.
The white insert appears to be what seals the shaker if you decide to put salt or pepper in them. The bottom cover of the one without the insert doesn't stay on the shaker very well. Should both shakers have a silver bottom cover that says Crossfire and a white disc insert inside that seals the bottom of the cavity?
Any insight from Crossfire Salt & Pepper Shaker owners would be much appreciated...

Re: Question about Salt & Pepper Shaker Parts...
The missing insert just leaves the cap a little loose is all. Notice how they twist closed and don't rattle or turn loosely? With the insert not put in place, the cap is pretty loose. It still goes on and looks OK but it isn't secure. I sure wouldn't put Salt or Pepper in it. Of course I probably wouldn't anyway - these things are HEAVY!
Re: Question about Salt & Pepper Shaker Parts...
That's true. It's not that I wouldn't put salt and pepper in them, it's that my wife would never let me put them on a table!
The part of me that's disappointed is the part that seeks completeness. Knowing there's a piece missing eats at me. Must be a disease...

i purchased my first set off of ebay and they did not come with the lower silver caps... i questioned the seller and he stated they were given to him and he was unaware the set was not complete... the seller then refunded the full amount i paid including shipping... so i now have a parts set... and you are more than welcome to have one of the plastic inserts to complete your set. please send me a pm with your shipping address and i will drop it in the mail...
cheers & enjoy!

Re: Question about Salt & Pepper Shaker Parts...
I have a set - I guess I never really thought about actually putting salt and pepper in these beauties. My wife asked me what the $36 dollar charge on credit card was about? She hit the roof when I said it was for salt and pepper shakers. "Since when are you in to salt and pepper shakers"
Some day some $400 dollar humidor will hit the card and the marriage will be in trouble.
