Are these spare keys legit??
Are these spare keys legit??
have found several auctions on ebay for these type of keys eBay Motors: 03 04 05 06 KEYLESS CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE REMOTE KEY (item 360067214837 end time Jul-10-08 09:24:47 PDT) Are these the real deal, If so a few questions? Does a reg key cutting place cut these keys(home depot, hardware store etc...) and how do i program the remote to work with my alarm on my car. I thought spare crossfire keys were like 400 bucks? Is this a scam or a hell of a deal?
Re: Are these spare keys legit??
The short answer is any ebay key will not work on the xfire. Hardware stores cannot cut these keys and would probably not have the blank key to begin with. But even if you can find a place to cut a key from Ebay,it will only open the door but will not start the engine or lock/unlock the doors remotely. Members here have paid anywhere from $75 to $140 from their dealers so it is not that expensive. What you have been quoted as $400 probably includes "programming" which you can do yourself in 20 seconds by following the instructions in one of the threads.....use the search button to find it. Hope this helps.
Re: Are these spare keys legit??
Sorry I did not have time to look for the programming instructions last time I responded. Here's the thread with programming instructions. Just to clarify, this will only work if you get the key from the dealer that is coded with your VIN (vehicle identification number) and not with any Ebay key that obviously does not have your VIN programmed into it.
