Blasphemy.......haha

But, no the Solstice's are nice cars I just never thought one would be tough in a straight line.....But then again if you strap turbos on a turd it's 0-60 time will probably be admirable. I will definitely try to steer clear of the SS Cobalts for now though.....Don't think I could handle the 1-2 combo from a Cobalt and a Solstice and not cry. haha

You've driven more Solstices than me, so I'll take your word for it. But I would still put my money on the Crossfire with a good driver - unmodded, of course. As soon as we talk mods, all bets are off.

Hi Valorian.. yeah stay away from the new Cobalt SS. From what I know.. they also come with a "Launch Control" System that is pretty effective..

Well.. I can only comment on a Limited Crossfire.. I think an SRT would sure beat the Sol-Sky twins.. Although you still have to deal with that pesky ESP system we have that refuses to turn off even when it's set to off..

Solstice is certainly a faster stock class autocross car than the xfire. Even in non-GXP form.

NoCones, first it was a Miata, now the Solstice. If I were you I'd watch my back.

I know this is a little OT to this thread. But, there was a used Solstice on the lot where I bought the SRT-6. I looked it over out of curiosity. While I really like the exterior of the Solstice, I found the interior to be horrid! I had no desire to even give it a test drive.

I agree. The Solstices and Skys just do nothing for me.

On a brighter note, I went to play basketball today and on my way back a Cavalier (ocean blue color which means it had the help of the fishes) pulls up beside me and the passenger proceeds to flip me off and they attempt to pull away in their little car. A smirk slowly spread across my face as I hit the clutch and dropped it into 3rd. I quickly blew past them with a smile and I raised a finger as well.....my Thumb (which I know is not techniqually a finger but for the story's sake it is) as to acknowledge "congrats on being douchebags........next time don't try it against a Crossfire". Just my heartfelt, romantic story of the evening.

Ah.. being able to pass a slow car in your Crossfire.... j/k

To be fair.. I did beat a VW Rabbit with a loud muffler of all things the other night..
I was at a red light.. when it turned green.. I start off slowly as usual, then I heard this roar from the Rabbit on the left and he was already over 1 car length ahead.. I said okay.. so I stepped on it.. and by third gear he was about 2 car lengths behind... then I merged over to the left lane to enter the Freeway. On the freeway.. Iw as cruising about 75.. when he pulled up next to me again.. and punched it.. Again I wasn't wanting to race.. but figured what the heck.. I downshifted to 4th and just left him behind... way way behind.. I slowed down.. and he caught up again.. cool guy.. we gave each other a wave and a thumbs up and left it at that..

Not much to talk about since the Rabbits do 0-60 in mid 8's.. so no surprise there..

The new r&t has the new solstice coupe with removable top on the inside back cover. It claims to be faster than the stock porsche caymen and the bmw z4 coupe.0-60 And the convertable faster than the bmw z4 and porsche boxter. They also named it one of the 10 hottest cars...per gallon. Ive got to say the coupe with removable roof is a sexy and affordable package, but with only 260 hp in the gxp,177hp for the regular model the srt will eat its lunch.

No question.....Solstice = hoe of the SRT's. That GXP I raced didn't really even beat me. 2nd-3rd I had him EASY then 3rd-4th I messed up but stayed neck and neck and pulled ahead at top end. An SRT would devour it for lunch.

Haha no doubt a Cavalier is slow.......but it was ocean colored.......and I hear the dual douchebag mod gives you twice the hp and thrice the torque.....so it was fair

Just trying to provide a reality check. The pride for the XF is cool and all, but folks get a a bit delusional about how good it is relative to the rest of the world.

And, to be clear, the points I've made about autox are purely about autox as a good measure of a car's handling capability...no one should read more into it than that.

As for a ban, I wouldn't lose much sleep...my XF will be for sale in a few months.

Cool thread. The n/a Crossfire is 215hp and the turbo'd Skye is 275-280 and a lighter vehicle. No contest.

But where our Crossfires win is looks - the Solstice has to have the ugliest front end ever made. Well, maybe the Pontiac Aztek is uglier. The Skye is kinda attractive but it's trunk makes ours look spacious.

I drive US31 fairly regularly with my SRT6, but no one ever seems to line up with me in a situation where I can smoke them. Most of the a$$holes who would want to race around here drive Civic's with fart-can exhausts.

The turbocharged Sol-Sky twins are only 260hp and they weight about 130 lbs less. Still plenty enough to kill a N/A Crossfire.

Which model year was the Cobalt SS are you refering to? was it the Supercharged older one or the new turbocharged one?

I think the newer ones have about 60hp over the older ones and are much faster.. 0-60 should be in 5.4 sec range... so it shold be much more than just 0.3 second difference.. But you are right about their "cheapness" though.
