Just Bought My First Chrysler Crossfire...Looking to Upgrade Soon
Re: Just Bought My First Chrysler Crossfire...Looking to Upgrade Soon
So, I think I've decided that the best upgrade for me will be a full car upgrade in a few months to a year. They have street fights and stuff around here (sanctioned and sponsored by the way) and I want a car that I can fix up and race but that I still Love to drive during the week as my Daily Driver. Most of the cars I've seen around there are late 90's early 00's Camaros and Mustangs etc. Are there any cars out there that compare to the feel and elegance of a Crossfire that has the power of the SRT. I Love my Crossfire but I wish I would have waited until an SRT became available nearby. If you guys had to choose again would you still buy an SRT or is there another car in the $15k-$30k range that will outperform an SRT? I'm sorry if I sound ignorant as I said though I've been a Jeep guy my entire life and I'm just now getting into cars. I just want to make sure I am making the best decision and getting the car perfect for my desires. Thanks guys!
Re: Just Bought My First Chrysler Crossfire...Looking to Upgrade Soon
if i had to choose again...
i would buy the exact same car. i like the manual. and i am not looking to race. a supercharger kit will be available soon enough, just a matter of time, that is reasonably priced, that will enable this vehicle to outgun all.
i personally wish they had made the SRT6 in a maual. that would have been eprfect. or if the srt 6 was a simple change over to manual.

Also, do the SRT's interior come in different selections as the Limited's do? I know there is a decent variety of choices and I don't know if that's the case in the SRT's or not?

cia - 400

injectors - 500
pullies...crank and under driver - 800
delete cats - 50
add hi flow cats - 400/500
exhaust- ?
custom tune - 1200
4800. not including the exhaust.
maybe i am wrong. or maybe i just think 5-6 grand is a lot of cash.

Of course we all know that red cars are really slower not faster.

Well, I just have to chime in with my suggestions:
1st) Replace the stock stereo. It stinks as far as features go - no MP3 Cd's, no iPod interface, and the bass output to the door speakers isn't cool either. The reason I put this first, is that it's a great car to begin with, and if you did nothing else, you'll love that new stereo everytime you drive your car.
2nd) Either NeedsWings CAI _OR_ a pair of K&N filters. Both will make your car breath better, give you more power, and help with gas mileage (a little). Your choice depends on your budget and where you want to go from there. The CAI costs ~$400, and the K&N's will cost about $50 each. Go with the K&N's if you do NOT plan on going for broke and upgrading injectors, pulleys, and all that jazz.
3rd) Debage your ride. It's free and it does make the car look cleaner and it will keep most people guessing as to what it is. For a small fee, you can throw on some of Andrew's badge covers. It's hard to get rid of the Chrysler wings (not impossible, just a lot of work), but covering that Chrysler badge will get most people really guessing.
4th) This _really_ depends on your budget and where you want to go from here. The choices are: Show or Go. If you want better performance, the TVT_250 kit is awesome, but if you've already sprung for a CAI, this package isn't as great. You can always score a mail-in ECU tune. That will get you some more ponies (assuming the 93 octane fuel is readily available in your area). ECU tunes from most vendors range from $350 to $500 (and up from very expensive vendors).
5th) I have no idea how much it costs, but sending out the stock wheels to be chromed looks great on a black car. Then you could add the chrome surround for the wind shield, and the chrome fender strakes, and the chrome door handles. All totalled, it's not cheap, but it can be done one step at a time, and won't look bad as you go along.
OK, this is turning into a book, so I'll leave it at that.
Have fun, and good luck!

One question I have though is I checked out the Needswings intake and I've seen other ones that have dual intakes. What is the difference in these and which will be more beneficial? And also about the radio, mine plays MP3 CD's with no problem. An upgrade is definitely needed though.

They teach their state troopers how to spot for them, and will pull you just for that and confiscate them!

Re: Just Bought My First Chrysler Crossfire...Looking to Upgrade Soon
Ooops. Sorry about the MP3 CD comment. I meant DVD-R. It really smoked me when I poped a DVD full of MP3's into my Crossfire and it wouldn't play.
There are a lot of CAI options. I personally don't see any difference between the dual and single sided options. After all, the hole that goes into the engine (after the intake) is only SO big. Having two tubes feeding it isn't really helping (unless they are two small tubes, but then what would be the point of that?) I have the NeedsWings intake myself, so I'm biased. But as far as performance goes, I doubt you'll find much difference between the most popular options: NeedWings, SL55, and others I can't think of. The difference comes down to looks, price, and personal preference.
