My car is driven to work daily (23 miles one way) and I get 320 miles or so before I fill up. I have yet to have the gas light come on.

It works out to an unbeliveable 37.1 MPG (or 6.3l/100 km). That is if you filled it up to the top. Taken into account that the tank capacity is 60l, and you said the light had come on, it appears that it may not have been totally filled. Regardless 437 miles is great achievement. Congrats that will be very difficult to beat.
What's that sound? Oh it's my "B.S." detector going off.
Sorry, I find it very, very hard to believe any Crossfire can attain 37.1 mpg at 70 mph. My Honda Civic does that.
Are you sure that your next door neighbor isn't sneeking over in the middle of the night and adding fuel to your tank with out you knowing it?
Or was your 437 mile trip actually 437 kilometers?

I think we could get that high of mileage in the crossfire if we tried hypermiling, i've been really thinking about giving this a try one night cutting the engine going down hills, no ac, windows up, taking turns that need to be taken at 25 at 50 because you never use the brakes all that crap.

Well Ned I was going by what MI1XFIRE said that it worked out to be around 37 MPG. I went back and noticed that Danimal mentioned that he travelled approximately the same distance, and it worked out to 30 mpg.
I'm just saying I don't believe that there is anyway a Crossfire is going to get 37 mpg simply by doing 70 mph and using the cruise control. Unless it's down hill all the way, with a tail wind.
As it's been suggested, you simply didn't fill the tank back up to the same level that you started with that's all.

the crossfire fuel capacity is around 60 liters or 15.9 gallons, so if you filled up and your light was on i'm guessing either you didn't fill up all the way. even if the fuel light had just came on that should only be about 2 gallons max, normally they shoot for 50 miles left when the lights come on.

I went back and double-checked my spreadsheet......438 miles, I put 14.29 gallons of gas in, which averages out to a little over 30.6 (I think I stated 30.9 in my earlier post which was incorrect).

I think there was an earlier post somewhere on who had pumped the most gas on any given tank....15.035 was the furtherest I've ever pushed it after 415 miles.

actually, when your fuel light comes on you have apprx two gallons of your 15.9 left...once you reach the bottom of the fuel gauge then you have your two gallon 'reserve' left to help avoid running out of gas...so essentially you have a 17.9 gallon tank.

I usually go 400 to 420 miles before the light comes on. Daily driver run the air in the afternoons (way home) and just checked, 31.2 miles to the gallon.

I usually never let my tank get that low. I've heard too many stories about fuel pumps getting too hot inside the fuel tanks and wearing out early because there is no gasoline surrounding them to keep them cool.
On the other hand, back in the 60's and 70's, guys were always installing electric fuel pumps on the "outside" of their tanks for better fuel delivery, but maybe the "air" cooling was enough.
I always thought not changing the fuel filter was the biggest reason electric fuel pumps failed.

I don't think so, but you are welcome to test that theory.

My manual says that the tank capacity is 15.8 gallons (approx.) and that the reserve capacity is 2.1 gallons, but not in addition to the 15.8. In fact, under the Low Fuel Warning Light description it states: "When the fuel level drops to about 2 gallons (7.5 liters), this symbol will light and remains lit until fuel is added."

Using your logic, there would be 4.1 gallons left when the light cames on....not approx. 2 gallons. It just doesn't add up or make any sense at all. Not that I really care one way or the other.....I would just hate for someone to get stranded because of something someone erroneously inferred....but then again, if they believed you, they would probably deserve it. Just my .02.
