With prices falling, I'm noticing an annoying trend...
Re: With prices falling, I'm noticing an annoying trend...
yeah, I was in my friend from highschool's car yesterday, a monte carlo ss (v6 n/a). He was ripping it on a crowded side street, 60 in a 30 and his car wasnt even fast. It pisses me off when people drive like they are 16, especially in quick cars. If I mess around in my car I would be embarrassed if someone saw me. Even in my mustang Ill smoke the tires, but in empty parking lots after everyone goes home, its the only thing the car is good for. Its people that drive like fools that hit my cars, thats why im especially annoyed by shitty driving.

I'm a couple hours from you on the eastern shore of Maryland. I've had my car for about 1 1/2 years and I've only seen three xfs. I'm the only srt. You know when I was young I drove a lot differently than I do today and that is just the way things go. When we're young you think that you are invincible and you/re perhaps the best driver in the world. My friend going off the road and getting paralized changed that somewhat but I still drive fast enough that passing on the bypass at 120 might irritate some.

I'm not AT ALL ashamed of owning a Crossfire. None of these witnessed events would make me think of selling it. It just a shame to see them being abused and mistreated in that way.
As far as hanging around in parking lots late at night, that isn't what we really do. It isn't like kids hanging around the mall after school. This time of year the weather in nice at night, and it nice to be outside. We know the owner of the location and patronize his business. This is just where we meet up before Dinner, the Track, a cruise or whatever. Sometimes we stay for a long time shooting BS, but sometimes we just roll out to whatever event or other plans we've made. And, like I said earlier, we don't bother anyone or create a scene or a mess. It's just nice to have our own little "Show and Tell"
Obviously, we all have our lapses in judgement from time to time and act the fool, but not like that. I guess I didn't take into account that we were all like that to some degree at that age. Young, Dumb and inexperienced. I bought this car to "grow up" and have a nice classy performance car. I came from SRT-4s, so I know what goes on. I guess I thought that owning a highend car would seperate me from the juvenile ricers. I guess not. I'll just have to deal with it and try to ignore it.

one more about 1 month ago a retired cop got plastered cutting his grass when a 18-19 year old kid lost control doing approx. 100 on a backroad.
i'm not trying to bash you, just trying to put that info out there, that you can hurt someone anywhere, even more so when we are lured into a false sense of security(aka rural area)
besides is the dumba$$ kids total their crossfires or break them beyond repair you won't have to worry about them in a crossfire much more

Saturday nights are usually a pretty good turnout(50ish cars of various descriptions) Weeknights it may be only 15-20. Let me know if you want to meet us at the track or something. I'll be away for some job training for the next couple of months, but I'll be around on most weekends till September, then I'll be around all the time again.

That being said, I'm very active in my local car scene. I hang around a great and respected group of people that have a mutual respect for most all cars accept ricers (We do like nice imports) and donks. We get together at least twice a week and there are usually 30-50 of us at any given time. We have our "spot" at a local BP Gas Station that lets us "hang out" in their parking lot (it's a big lot for a gas station). We govern ourselves very strictly, as we don't want to be confused for the misbehaving children, Fast & Furious, Ricer crowd. We pick up our trash, don't cause problems and actually spend a considerable amount of money in that particular business. Basically, if you can hear your stereo 3 cars away it's too loud, if you rev your engine your scourned. Tire peeling, Burnouts and any other juvenile or stupid behavior is rewarded with a strong "suggestion" that you leave.
Obviously, I'm the ONLY SRT-6 in the area. My fold knows what it is and what it can do. So I have nothing to prove. What I've seen lately is at least 3 limited coupes around that are driven by younger people that haven't grown up yet. I guess since these cars have gotten to the price of a used Honda Civic, that these kids are starting to pick them up. Well, Saturday night I was dismayed to witness a White, a Red and a Black Coupe driven by these said persons. They were hanging around the RICER Crowd and acting the part. Burning out, doing doughnuts, driving fast in the parking lot full of people and generally acting like a bunch of idiots with no home training or common sense. I really hated to see that. They were all running around with their wings at attention like their badge of honor. I was ashamed to own a Crossfire that night.
If you are on here, grow up or go buy a Civic or Integra. That behaviour is expected from those cars. You are lucky to be driving a rare and exclusive car. Don't treat it like a used beater and don't act like a bunch of tards. I'm sure I'll see them around again this week. Probably with fart can mufflers, Neon underbody lights, fake HIDs and loud stereos. I'm just mortified and ashamed...
