Default Old Transmission Post

Since I like history and it has been mentioned that there has been 20K posts on the site...

I started at the beginning of the forum, and found this post, can anyone verify this?

Has any automatic owners tried out the Optimum Gear Programming feature? What's that, you say? Another MB feature of this transmission. If you hold the shift lever to the left for more than 1 second, it will automatically downshift as low as possible if you are entering a high speed turn and then apply full throttle on exit. It makes sure you get the best gear for the most acceleration. Try it!

I did not see this mentioned in the manual and this is the first I have heard about it. If true I will be trying this in the mountains tomorrow. History is awesome!

It did as the post said, if I am in 5th gear coming in to a turn and 3rd gear is the proper gear based on my speed, it bypasses 4th completely to shift to 3rd so you can come out of the curve with maximum power.

It works the same if in 4th gear bypassing 3rd and putting you in 2nd, for maximum power.

Awesome. History is worth revisiting!

No man, no rain today, I wouldn't have done what they did in the mountains based on the pictures they took, rain and cold roads aren't made for the Xfire especially cruising mountain curves fast.
