First time at the track with the xfire
First time at the track with the xfire
I've never drag raced before in my life so last night was a learning experience. My car's an 04 manual with magnaflow cat back and drop in K&N filters. Here are the time slips...
First run Second run Third run
R/T .571 .480 .373
60ft 2.511 2.513 2.564
330ft 6.704 6.767 { 7.282 }
1/8 10.112 10.233 { 10.943 } Missed 2nd gear... Ooops
MPH 73.42 72.12 { 69.14 }
1000ft 13.007 13.151 13.950
1/4 15.620 15.644 16.503
MPH 79.00 90.73 88.73
The first run i honestly had never been to a track before and let off the gas pedal about 150 feet or so before the finish line which explains the slow trap speed of 79 mph. The second time up i launched it to high up in the tach and the traction control (even though it was off) stepped in and the car pretty much laid down off the line but reached nearly 91 mph. The third run i missed second gear which i thought was impossible but i managed to do it any way but it explains the horrible 330ft and 1/8 mile times and low speed at the 1/8 mark but still managed to make it to 89 mph. So if I could of combined my first launch and second trap speed of 90.73 mph i'm pretty confident i could have shaved in down to the low 15's. Or just not let off the gas before the finish line.

Re: First time at the track with the xfire
I had my first experience at the track a couple of weeks ago. Midwest private track day
These were my best times with my 04 Autostick using the OEM intake and then the Needswings intake. It was a lot of fun.
My times for my na Crossfire:
I ran first with the OEM air intake and my best time out of my first 11 runs was 14.9252 (2nd run 10:44am)
Then I put on my Needswings CAI and my best time out of another 11 runs was 14.7898. (2nd run 1:44pm)

Re: First time at the track with the xfire
Cmon now...you can drive.
I'm sure with a 6 speed it is much more challenging to launch etc.
With mine I basically break torqued it to about 1500 RPM and hit it right when I saw the green.
Got a tiny bit of tire chirp but for the most part traction all the way.
I would be interested to try a 6 speed a couple of times just to test myself.
Your times are probably as good as any for a first time and a 6 speed.
It was all about the experience to me.
NOTE: I also did 22 runs that day to get those best times.
I also ran several low 15's too.

Re: First time at the track with the xfire
Well in my first run i dumped it at 2000 rpm and it did okay but when i hit 2nd it got a little squirly but was okay after that. It was a hot day and the track seemed a little greasy but it got better it seemed for the other drivers as the night went on.
