Do you know any Supercharger?
Do you know any Supercharger?
Hi guys,
Does anyone know a working supercharger or twin turbo for the base crossfire?
I searched everywhere, and I even talked to some Chrysler dealer. Nobody has a supercharger for the base crossfire, except the supercharger from the SRT models, but even they would not work with the base model. I don’t want to buy a SRT, only want to reach the same power.
The Thomas Knight Supercharger should work, but it’s little annoying to push a button for activating power. And I don’t think that makes your 1/4 or 0-60 time faster, do you have any experience with it?
I really appreciate your responses.

Re: Do you know any Supercharger?
You will save a TON of money by just buying the SRT. They can be had for around $20K in very nice condition. You would have far more than that in a LTD with some problematic turbo setup.
The SRT will still have factory warranty. A LTD with a turbo will not.

if you buy from the dealership your much safer, but after tax and license, your $25k srt6 will end up around $30k. and the monthly payments are very high for average guy when you can buy a used limited for $10-12k
the low boost supercharger comleted on the car shouldn't cost more than $3-$4k and that will get you to 300hp, so your in for about $15-16k for a 300hp car

Re: Do you know any Supercharger?
It's not about the money. I paid $40.000 for my "standard" crossfire, but it's a loooong time ago. And I really love my car, I wont give it away and get a SRT6. I want to improve the power of my crossfire which I already have. But I guess it's impossible to do that, or you spend $100.000 for a new startech engine, but at this point I would say it's about the money.. because then it's not worth ;-) I would rather go and by a DB9.
Re: Do you know any Supercharger?
Thanks for your responses - But I have a lot TVT Design parts already, and you'll never be close to the power of the SRT6, wich is 5 sec. from 0-60 and 12 sec. in a 1/4 track. That's what I call real power.
I love it. But it's too bad that you can not "just" install the same turbocharger on a stock crossfire, really too bad. I would do everything to get the same power on a stock crossfire.
I should maybe call XZIBIT

There are LOTS of SRT6's out there for less than $25K.

As far as being safer buying from a dealer, I strongly disagree. You have NO IDEA the history of the car before the dealer had it. You buy a car from an owner and member of this forum, you are getting a car that was loved and well taken care of.
But either way, I doubt you are going to get SRT6 performance out of a LTD and keep it drivable.

Re: Do you know any Supercharger?
Have you recently priced pre-owned SRT6's? They sell for between $18K and $25K with less than 15K miles and in FLAWLESS Condition. I'm not sure why you'd assume you would be getting an auction car or a wreck for $20K. That's what they average in flawless condition. Low to mid $20's.
Click the links I posted. I could not find any damage on those cars.

Re: Do you know any Supercharger?
As much as I believe that just getting an SRT-6 is a better choice for now if you're going after power, I really do hope that you N/A guys find some cost-effective F/I solutions for the car. Somebody's gotta be brave enough to be the first, and when that happens, I hope everyone else can cheer that individual on, instead of saying "Just buy the SRT-6!". Getting an originally N/A xF into the 12's is one hell of an achievement!
Re: Do you know any Supercharger?
Can someone tell me why you can't supercharge a base model crossfire? There are universal superchargers that require some custom made fittings and a bit of know-how, but do in the end fit on just about anything.
Is there something funky about the engine where it just can't take the boost? I've seen supercharged lawn mowers for love the of god. Just about anything with pullies and an intake can be supercharged.

Re: Do you know any Supercharger?
Nothing's stopping you from bolting a supercharger or turbo on an N/A xfire.... The compression ratio is not ideal, but it's not bad (10.0:1)... I would stay around 5 psi with that kind of compression, 7 psi MAX unless you start messing around with internals... the hardest part about a F/I setup isn't sizing the turbo or blower... it's figuring out where the heck to put the piping without burning something else like electrical wiresoff (because it's too hot), and also supporting the piping so that you don't start putting cracks in the piping whenever you hit a pothole.
The main important thing is that you need to be mechanically inclined and good with your hands.
