Why does the Crossfire always have to be judged by racing terms.
They a just cool looking cars and the drive like they are on rails.
I think 15 seconds in a quarter mile is fast 11 seconds is even better but are the size of your ***** determined by how fast your car is.
Maybe it's just me but 3 or 4 seconds doesn't matter to me.
I will be on a track for the first time on Saturday (weather permitting) and it's just so I can go fast and not worry about a ticket.
It is an opportunity to spend time at a private event with some guys I know and other I recently met and thats the main reason I am going.
I will probably run 15 seconds and the others will run 11. I don't care.
Bigger ,better,faster whatever

Exactly my thoughts. Wish I could have said it.

When adjusted correctly it would down shift the trans into 2nd gear, and even into 1st if the speed was low enough. All it took was moving the linkage far enough to engage the kick down rod that was set at a pre-determined spot on the carb linkage.
I'm not sure when Chrysler switched over to an electrical switch to activate its passing gear.

Reminded me of the story about a guy who bought his 6 year old boy a pony and cart. The boy was driving the pony around the yard and the dad went out to see how things were going. He said " hows it going son" to which the boy replied " pretty good dad" and then he noticed a string running from the pony's ********* back to the cart. " Whats up with the string son?" the dad inquired. The boy replied " Passing Gear"

HOLD ON, HOLD ON HERE!
This should not get personal. No one, who has served our country with devotion and honor, should ever be refered to as "A thin shell of a man."
His thinking on cars may be two dimensional. We can argue that all day. But, he desrves respect. And he has mine.
Not just for what he did, but for what he was willing to do.
One can't very well ask for respect if one won't give it.

Re: Warp Speed Button Question
Wow! This seems to be the week for forum arguments. There must be something in the air. I think we all need to take a deep breath and relax. Also, it helps to put smiley faces in your posts so that people know you're teasing or just busting chops.
Anyway...
Sorry to all the non-race guys out there. It's so easy to get caught up in racing and performance that you can lose sight of what a great car the Crossfire is, regardless of which model you drive. I just got started racing, and I can tell it is a passion that will take you over if you're not careful - not that that is necessarily a bad thing...

Re: Warp Speed Button Question
I just love the Crossfire regardless of what kind. I love my Limited Coupe and long for an SRT-6 to tweek but what I really like is getting out of my Crossfire a liitle earlier today and having two younger good looking ladies say "wow that is gogeous" still not sure they were talking about the car but that is what the Crossfire is all about - curb appeal...
Re: Warp Speed Button Question
It's all good guys........you read the same things I read. Even Chi-town's continued proding by naming his little graphic 'danimalwallpaper' didn't go unnoticed. Gary, I appreciate what you are saying and deleted my post without further provocation. Between Carlisle, the Dragon, and our FL GTGs, I believe that enough people know me so that I don't have to respond any further. Guess I just took his insults a little more personal than the rest of you....and for that, I apologize. Just know that most SRT owners do not look at the rest of us that way.
Mike (+fireamx).....screw you, I'm tired of defending your "hallowed halls" comment alone.... JK guys!!!

Re: Warp Speed Button Question
Nice post Danimal. The breeze in this thread is blowing a little cooler now.
This was supposed to be about the Warp Sped button. Looks like some other buttons got bumped as well. Mine included
I will defend Firemax's "Hollowed halls" comment. It was certainly made in the best of fun and jest and quite honestly earned and deserved and for a good reason.
The SRT-6 is a very special version of a car we all love. Given all the reasons we have bought and kept these very special cars the SRT-6 adds mind numbing speed. Their ice cream has an extra cherry on it.
They cost a little more to buy and a lot more to keep. So those who own them have every right to be proud. And consider their cars "special" as it were. 'Cause quite frankly, they are.
I think the rest of us get a little annoyed when we are told our N/A Crossfire isn't "good enough" to be considered part of the family. Not all SRT folks are that way, but there a a few who are tend to rub our fur the wrong direction. It takes the fun out of the banter.
Actually, I enjoy the little barbs and jests that are made frequently and in the best of fun. But they should never get personal.
After all, IMHO, we are all in the same family.

Re: Warp Speed Button Question
Anyway, back on topic... I think the kickdown switch is just another case of Germans over-engineering something. I've never driven a modern American or Janapese car that had one. Pretty much all cars with automatic transmissions built over the last 15 years have had throttle position sensors regardless of the throttle control (mechanical or drive by wire). A normal throttle position sensor should know when the pedal is fully depressed and then kickdown the transmission accordingly without the use of a secondary switch.
I have found, however, that after hitting the switch my transmission holds the lowest possible gear for a long period of time (sometimes too long IMO). I view it more as a "sport" mode button than a kickdown switch.

Re: Warp Speed Button Question
Now that we've put all this bad blood behind us, and we're done holding hands and singing "*** by ya", can we get back to the 2nd. part of the original question?
Since a few SRT owners make it abundently clear on a regular basis that the term "Warp Speed" and "NA Crossfires" should never be used in the same sentence, do any of you Automatic Limited owners have a "pet" name for your kick down switch?

It's a "G" spot and the only way a guy can get one is to buy an SRT-6
There only are about 2,600 guys on the planet who can attest to this.
Sadly, I'm not one of them
