Default Questions for RH Drive Owners??

1. Question, for those of you that shift with your left hand, is first gear up & to the left just like the LH drive cars.....or is the pattern reversed also? Do you clutch with your right foot & gas and brake with left foot, or are those functions the same as LH drive cars?

2. In GB what is the price of a gallon of premium gasoline, & am I corect to assume those are imperial gallons?

3. I'm under the impression there were 76,046 Xfires ever produced, in the USA the VIN numbers end with sequences like 7X72575....the 7X means it's an '07 model year & that it was the 72,575th Xfire ever produced.......do the VIN #s of RH drive cars follow this sequence.....(I'm trying to figure out if there really were only 76,046 Xfires ever produced - total world wide....or if that number applies only to LH drive models or models intended for North America).

4. Lastly, how in the world can you shift with your left hand & steer with your right?

1. It's exactly the same gear box.
2. Don't know the price, but UK gallons are larger than US gallons - so yes, Imperial.
3. No idea.
4. They're obviously smarter/more dextrous than you.

1. Gears and pedals are the same.
2.Around £1.10 a Litre for premium gas.
3.Don't know.
4.We can drive both ways as Spensley says we are more inteligent.

2. 1.10GBP (US keyborad - no pound sign) = to about $8 US gallon (4 liters/gallon), exchange ratio 2:1 - so quit yer bitchin' about the price of gas!!!

I think the pedal arrangement (CBA) and gear box arrangement (1 top left) is the same world wide (on all cars) - except for recently when some cars have 1st out on a limb so it's supposedly easier to change between the driving gears 2,3,4,5 - in the 'H' format.

It's actually about $8.66.
A Gallon for us is 4.54 Litres so it's $9.8 a gallon over here.

Having lived in the UK, I would point out that the $8 plus price per gallon is only valid if you are a visitor and earn you money in dollars or some other currency. If you are a UK resident, you earn and pay for your petrol in sterling not dollars. Another way to think about it is that if I earned my money in the UK and bought gasoline in the US at $4 a gallon with the exchange rate at 2:1 that makes it equal to ~$2 gallon if gasoline in the US were at $4 a gallon, but only for that person. It would still be $4 a gallon for all the rest of us. So while petrol is basically more expensive in the UK than in the US due to higher taxes on fuel, lets keep the differences in perspective.

I guess the only way to equate the real prices might be to figure out what wage earners in comparable jobs clear / hour in USA & GB & see how many gallons or liters of 91 octane that amount can purchase at the pump in each locale. My wife is a nonsupervisory RN with about 15 years experience.......If she wasn't putting in the max to her 401K.....she would clear about $23/ hour.....at that rate she could trade one hour of work for about 6.8 USA gallons of premium (at $3.39 / gal) here in the midwest. Anyone have similar info in GB?
