Luckily there are no elephants on the road in America.

You know, the title of this post is technically an imperative, so it makes me laugh every time I read it.

"Hit a Deer!" "Yes Sir!"

I was always afraid that those would "attract" the deer

Nope, I know of two cases personally where those whistlers failed to scare the game off the road. One was with my wife's aunt and uncle on a trip through Colorado; they clobbered a doe with their Crown Victoria doing 50 mph. The second was my in laws on trip through Arizona; they nailed a 5X6 bull elk with their minivan doing 45 mph. Both of these accidents happened at night an the animals were just standing on the road. The deer was on a blind curve the elk was covered in mud on a moonless night.

At least these deer have good taste in cars. They also taste good themselves.

The same thing can be said for the neighbors cat (knocked the lower right grill out, and I then drove over it with the rear tire, the grill, not the cat) it just scampered away.
A BIG ground hog crossing my driveway, as I pulled in one night at about 25 mph. He scampered off also.
A good sized bird (unidentified species) glanced off my left head light at about 45 mph. No damage at all to the head light cover.
And I do believe someone had a close encounter with a Racoon who took out his lower grill also. Now who could that be.

Yes, but my racoon wasn't as lucky as your cat... I had to help him off the road afterwards

well weather it jumped out infront of me or i hit it. its still dead haha. but it did run across the road because i barely missed the full grown mother and hit the smallest deer. the mother would have torn my car apart.
