Test drove two xfires
Test drove two xfires
I drove two xfires last night and teally liked it. I currently have a saab 9-3. I have a few question. I realize maintnace is higher than on other chryslers, will it be on track with what I already pay on the saab.
I have found on 04 alabaster xfire with 26k miles listed for $13999, what do you think I can offer on this car. What can of info on xfires would help me negotiate.

Re: Test drove two xfires
First, have you considered the different models? Roadster vs. Coupe? Limited/Base vs. SRT6?
Being an '04, I suspect you could lo-ball the guy down to $11k, especially with 26k miles on it. Also, always have a carfax done as well as having the vehicle independently inspected. This will save you in the long run.
What kind of warranty are they willing to offer? The vehicle is obviously close to 36k now, so I'd make sure they could throw in a really good warranty for $13k ($11k + $2k for the warranty).
Color? Just curiosity...
Lastly, hunt around here on the forums... you can find TONS of info on the particular model. There are also downloads available for the owners manual and the service manual for all models. Specifications too if you want them.
Don't forget to check the cars for sale section, you may find a better deal on something with lower milage.
Good luck!

Re: Test drove two xfires
The car is white, with cedar interior. I have read a ton about Crossfires over the years so I feel like I know more than most run of the mill car salesmen do. I joined this forum in 06 the last time I was looking for a new car.
I really want to buy locally last time a bought out of state it was a huge headache. Any specifics when negotiating on Crossfires.

Alabaster is a great color
10 things to note:
1. Make sure the Navigation CDs are there, or the dealer will get them. If no Nav radio, then this is moot. (Not sure if this applies to 04, but it did on my 05.)
2. Make sure the tool is there to aid in the removal of the front lower grilles (to access the tow hook.) I heard this tool works for wheel center cap removal as well.
3. Check the headlights and make sure they're clear, with no scratches or hazing.
4. Test drive and make sure the 1-2 shift is smooth (not notchy) and no popping out of 1st
5. Tires are expensive. Make sure these are good. If they're still the second set, then they may be due soon.
6. Check to be sure the air pump is under the storage area floor.
7. Ask for service records on A and B service. Check the FSS to be sure one isn't due.
8. Carfax or equal
9. Ask for all manuals and carry sleeve if not there.
10. Keep your teeth brushed, because that's all people will notice of your face when you drive it

1st alabaster with cedar is low on the list for popular gray interior is more pop I'm sure !
04's didn't have Nav. I would think $11-12k wouldn't be too low to start with a dealer no trade in. Where is this car? west coast? east?
Does it look lowered or stock ? Carfax? Extended warrenty or certified?

Cedar interior is low on the popularity list? I'm surprised. It does seem rather rare, particularly if matched with Gray or Silver exterior. In fact, I've only seen it (or heard tell of it) with Black, Alabaster or Oyster. Nevertheless, the Cedar reminds me of the interior of my first car--a '63 Ford Fairlane 500 Sports Coupe. Whatever--I suppose the Crossfire question is--is the cedar interior a true rarity--particularly on '06 through 08's?

The cedar is relatively rare and it looks good. I can't imagine anyone choosing the straight gray over the two tone cedar and gray if given a choice.

The kit is still in the box. She won't let me put it on.
Everything about these cars is rare and really cool. The Cedar is just a little more but it grows on you.....nicely.

Re: Test drove two xfires
The cloudy headlamp lens concern is not a big deal. Once you get your Crossfire, you'll probably want to have it detailed properly. Any good bodyshop will have the newer plastic polishes that'll make any undamaged headlamp lens look like new. I bought my limited coupe used about 2 weeks ago. I had cloudy lenses and the detail work/polishing made them crystal clear!
