Default side-effect of sucking out oil

my dad made a comment yesterday when I was vaccuming out the oil that it kinda lokked like blood going through the tubes at the blood bank.

had a dream last night that I was just sittin around sucking all my blood out, get as much as I could out then I'd wait about 10 minutes to make sure no more drained down, and the entire time I was like this is amazing that I'm still alive, WTF, that side-effect was not listed in the top-sider pump manual.

should I sue? jk, but there have been dumber lawsuits

not to worry the Dr is in. what you did wrong was you forgot to drink two cold beers while performing the oil evac. this would have caused you to sleep much better and not have blood letting dreams :-p

My family doctor told me not to watch resident evil and change oil in the same day.

No bad dreams for me - but I did have to brush my teeth like twenty times to get the taste out.

I'm just glad our cars use synthetic...Just imagine having to do this every 3,000 miles.

Man, I tried the top side oil change thing, took me about 5-1/2 hours. The last two hours were steady pumping on the plunger. I can promise you this will never happen again, the oil change people can charge me what ever they want to and I will pay it. LOL.

I'm a Medical Technologist & have been responsible for tens of thousands of transfusions during my career....it's not the same.....however, recently had a Jehova Witness for who we had to get a synthetic (BioPure)....that looks similar (modified bovine hemoglobin).

I must drive like a sissy......at the 6,400 mile mark....car says I can go another 1,800 miles before first oil change?????

I still don't know why nobody does it the old fashioned way like I do.. a floor jack and a metric wrench and the oil is pouring out... and no side effects haha

You got to stick the tube from the topsider into the dip stick tube until it reaches the oil before you start pumping

Just kidding. What I did was remove all but an inch of the Tygon tubing; I left just enough to couple the PVC tubing directly to the metal tube of the lid. What I found was when you got the oil hot so it would flow easily the Tygon tubing would collapse. Now with the PVC tubing connected directly to the metal lid I warm the oil up to full operational temperature and I can drain the oil in about 10 - 15 minutes

BLC, You're not alone, there are still a few of us "holdouts" left. Only I dont even use a floor jack, I just pull the front tires up onto a couple of 10" wide boards that raises it about 2" and I can reach everything.

Another hold-out...

I buy my oil have my filter and take it to a local shop and he charges me $20 for labor and it's done in 20 min. whether or not the engine is hot.

* I don't have to get my hands or clothes dirty

* I don't have to dispose of the oil (and 8.5 quarts at that)

* absolutely no chance of any oil spilling on my driveway

* It's done on a lift that I'm welcom to walk under and glance at my cars undercarriage

... all worth $20 to me & since I usually buy the oil and filter way in advance - it seems like I only pay $20 for the oil change - even though it's really like $100

I don't change my oil anymore. I use to do it, but not my cup of tea anymore. Maybe I'm just getting old .

I pay ~ $65 including the oil.

I found it a lot less stressful and quite a bit cheaper to do my own oil change.
$300.00 - new oil pan after dealer stripped plug (said he found it that way)
$150.00 - Emergency Room. Heart pains from above issue.
$000.00 - Dealership puts wrong oil in car.
$150.00 - Second Emergency Room visit. Heart pains from above issue.

Changing my own oil using the correct materials and torque specifications and peace of mind- Priceless

My local SAM'S CLUB has a one time buy on 0W30 for $29.00 a case of six. I don't know if they all have it but that is a good price.
